I just PRAY this guy does a good job! he got here at 9am (it's 3pm now and he just got a bite to eat and is back), he is just about to start mixing the Epoxy so he can star painting. he said he will lay down the outline of the garage and starting his sections. he said he works in sections and you want to overlap them slightly (keep wet edge) so they blend together.

I wished I spent time getting custom paint flakes. he is using the flakes that come with the TAN RustoLeum Epoxy Kit and throwing a few blue ones from a package that BEHR sells at home Depot (just recognize them from ME looking).

His sanding job apparently will do the trick, BUT, it's not liek he sanded all the oil marks etc out of the concrete. he said it is to get the surface even and to open up the pores of the cemenet.

he also uses a 3 bucket system, with a quick light mop with acid and water and then squeegies it up fast.

We will see.

More, but can't see it too well in these pics. I closed the garage to dry so no dust or bugs get on the floor.

Looks pretty good. Might be the camera but it looks a little blotchy? Was there an area that was left bare?

No Bare area was there just for a bit, that was the last section.

It does look a little blotchy in sections, that was before it was dry. He is putting Poly Top Coat this afternoon (around 2pm).

if it IS blothchy, can you HE fix that? Or, is it too late? It looks good though, I was happy thus far, but after the top coat goes on and dries, it will seal everything off pretty good.

Thanks for all the comments and constructive criticism. Look at my Garage Before!!!!!!!!!! Looked worse than I actually realized!
For $1,000 I am happy with the results and can't wait to see it with the Polyeurathane TOP on it when it dries.

Adding to my Post above:

If there is any splothchiness I can guess what it is from reading the internet and from the "comments" of my installer.

My concrete was sealed with something (as you can see from the pictures)

He sanded the floor with an elecgtric walk behind sander (not grinded or resurfaced the floor, but sanded it). OK, so when he painted (don't forget I painted the 4 foot concrete WALL in my Garage (see pics) which used additional paint.

Anyway, he ran out of Epoxy at the very last small square but his wife came back and brought him paint. he said after sanding the floor, the Floor just sucked up the Epoxy Paint and he said it used more than he normally does with most gharages of my size.

Also, when your floor was sealed, you get the splothciness (one way at least) is from the concrete floor soaking up MORE Epoxy in one area than another because that area is more porus than other parts of the floor.

Now many say you need to put down 2 coats of Epoxy! To fill in all the areas perfectly. Now he already threw the flakes down, so I am not sure if I can PAY him to do another coat, or if it really matters? I KNOW it would look better, but although I want it to look great, it's a garage floor and not our kitchen table (not eating off it).

I am trying to have realistic expectations for what I am paying. He IS Top coating the floor with Poly (a double coat) so the floor should perform very well, be durable, and have a nice shine to it.

If I was to be doign this myself, I would have bought extra paint and gave it another coat of Epoxy which I know woul dmake the color darker and richer just liek 2 coats of paint usually does for any wall (if your not using a coat of tinted primer first).

SO, i will see how it looks later today and talk to him, but it looks really good right now and it will look BETTER when he puts the top coat on and that dries.

I am waiting 36 hours after he puts that Polyeurathane on to put nything on the floor! Maybe longer?

I will post pics of finished project and also ask him about the possibnility of another coat.

I am going to have a lift on the floor, a car parked under the lift, another SUV parked, and a SEADOO GSX Limited in the 3rd part 9single door) of my 3 car garage.

I am very glad he is putting the Poly on! Without it, the floor would look aweful IMO, not aweful, but not nearly as polished and professional.

Quick Question Sunday 9:45Am (9-23-120

Garage was closed all last night drying ( barely cracked 2 door garage open). He's coming back around 1:30-2:00pm today to apply the Top CLEAR.

I am in TEXAS and it will be in the 90's today and sunny!

Should I open BOTH Garage Doors until he gets ghere to help the Epoxy dry?

Or, should leave them closed so no bugs or anything get on the floor?

Thanks

Gary

Even if the prep caused certain areas to "soak up" that would just mean more product would be needed in those areas.

As far as the doors I would not open fully to keep foreign items from getting on the floor.

With 1 coat I have some dull spots when the sun is on it. Maybe another coat would help but I did it myself and want to live with it for a few years at least. I will take mine a step further some day but for now I enjoy what I have.(it's a nice upgrade from bare concrete)

Is that really blotchiness or uneven scatter of flakes? Truthfully that's what it looks like. Mine is like that in places as I was not consistent and used different methods/techniques when scattering the flakes.
