Thanks for the quick responses, I see it now. I was trying to make it read "Lebe" or something.

What's funny is that Lisle generally doesn't brand anything they make. This is one of those few tools they do/did.
And yes, I had a similar set at one time. The inside of the socket anvil opening was completely unfinished on every single one of them.

It's funny you should say that.

Lisle is an American company that makes good quality tools. Lisle make a set of tap drive sockets. These are a must have if a person is doing a bunch of tapping for fasteners. Lisle also made a top of the line drill bit sharpener. If you are lucky enough to find one, buy it.
The product number is 91000. I have a Sterling sharpener.

Yep, exactly. Every single one of them looked exactly like that.
I had another set of their sockets too, I think they were hex, and they also looked the same way.

My guess is they're cutting manufacturing costs by not finishing the inside/underside of the socket.
Just because it's made in the USA doesn't always mean its necessarily quality manufacturing.

I'd say that's kind of Lisle's MO- they make tools in the US, but they don't try to make them look high-end. In fact a lot of them look pretty crude, even (especially?) compared to the low-end imports. If it isn't required for the function of the tool, they don't do it. To me though, that's actually a little refreshing in a world where every no-name Chinese brand of the day on Amazon tries to make their tools LOOK like they are premium.

Doesn't need to be to function. Lisle makes function and cost primary concerns, they are not the prettiest nor the best but a good value for the money.
