Whoa. Nice little payday there, Joe. (I see that you rightsideupped the card, showing that the speeder handle would fit on that profile that sure seems too perfect to be just coincidental either way it was turned! :)) And if one of you Crafty guys grabbed it, congrats!

Pretty sure someone here snagged it......

I thought about it, but was pretty sure I might be lynched by the craftsman guys!

It may be hard to believe, but that is an appropriate price for that set.

I find it a bit frustrating that some folks use Garage Journal to seek a payday and butcher the information that is provided to them. It makes bringing the truth out that much harder when there is an "established" fallacy that perpetuates from high ticket sellers. :headscrat

I suppose that is what we are here for hahaha!

I wonder what the C-98 I've got will go for with its original case and accessories. Waka, waka, waka!

I would think at least that much

There are a few ratchets within the Craftsman brand that can be worth at least that alone just as there are those in a similar class among other brands.

Start the auction, I'm ready to bid :)

I'm not entirely sure what I plan to do when I liquidate what I have. I might reach out the SBD to see if they want everything, for a price. If not, you'll probably be seeing quite a few crazy priced pieces coming up on eBay by late spring or early summer. Alternatively, private sales are always better for everyone involved.

My only regret is not reaching out to David Maher sooner. Some of the pieces he had were not only of excellent quality, he had a small group of pieces that I have yet to see pop up ever. MrCraftsmanTools [David] was so close to being done before he let his collection go for personal reasons. In some ways, the kingdom was sold for a horse. By the time I found out about it, it was too late.

I will say, at the very least, I am glad that the OP at least took the time to send the site photos of what he had. We got to see an excellent example as well as a very neat tiny tools card. I'm happy that more original packaging has shown up here on GJ. It makes history come to life!

Thanks, much appreciated. While its always been Craftsman Vises which were my main interest, my quest for ratchets and sets is getting a little out of hand as of late. Case in point, the 3/8" set of this thread......paid more than I wanted to. :)

I've been tight lipped about most of the new things I'm brining to the table in terms of new information and odd ratchets I've found that, so far haven't been acknowledged or noticed.

I literally spent 9 hours doing my final check and update on the scripts for the new ratchet series. We are moving forward with the "reboot". :wtf:

Anyway, I already asked Joe this prior to him selling the set, should you be up for making your tool set a movie star, let me know. I've done this with several members here already (some on the aforementioned GJ list) via my "inter-toolbox loan" program (like an inter-library loan hahaha!). My turn around time is no more than 3 days and shipping/insurance (full value) is paid for by me.

I last did this with JoCoSawDust's Fors Ratchet in March. The real value of that piece makes the Vanadium tool set seem cheap! Once the new video goes up, he'll be sitting pretty!

Thanks for the 3rd to 1st Person clarification!

Congrats, Ed. Happy hunting for the Tiny Tools.

Yeah it will be a long hunt I'm afraid. Need a couple sockets too. Would be nice to know for sure if the tiny tools were originally part of, or sold with that set. I tend to think not. They would more likely be part of a midget set IMO.

I might be up to loan it out, but the way the USPS is working, I'll be lucky to ever see it. I would really like to at least have a complete set of sockets though.

It does seem like an odd pairing, but the way the swing arm fits the card is just too perfect for my small mind to get over, I'm foolhardy enough to be in a minority of one on my position on this, and I'll gladly eat my crow if I'm wrong.

I am glad this great set went to someone who really appreciated it! You can display it next to your amazing vises that are era correct! In terms of the sockets, keep your eye out. I know someone not to long ago that picked up a bunch for stupid cheap off the bay.

Thanks JoCoSawdust and Smokeshow69, My collection is small and modest compared to yours and many here. Hard to resist this vanadium set, even a newbie like me could recognize the rarity and significance of this set. If I can find the missing sockets, I'll loan this out to Gear Wolf for his fabulous videos, I hate displaying an incomplete set.

I'll keep my eyes peeled Ed. Please give us a list of what you need.

Well to complete the sockets in this set, I'll need the correct 3/8" drive Vanadium sockets in 7/16, 1/2 and 9/16. The tiny tools are another issue I'll just have to look for, but the sockets shouldn't be too impossible to find. Thanks.

Unfortunately, the time I have available to work on the "reboot" is drawing to a close. By no longer than April, I will have to be done with the bulk of the filming. Skits, intro/outros, voice work, and collating everything can be done pretty much at anytime thereafter. There is a threshold that, once I cross it, I won't be able to do much "bench top" style reviews/discussions moving forward.

With the crazy world that we've all faced, the many months of time I hoped I would have had to have this finished before we would start getting ready for the move has pretty much vaporized. We will get to a conclusion. It will just take longer than anyone hoped for.

With that said, I particularly don't need to have a "complete" kit to film it. The important thing is that people will get to see it. You are definitely not beholden to myself of anyone else to grant me the privilege of being a very temporary custodian of your property. Yet, I am compelled, given my own time constraints to ask before it will be too late. I am definitely grateful that you and others have even consider the possibility. The least I can do is make the experience, if available, as pleasant and worthwhile as I can. :D
