EDIT: Looks like the pump is a CH VT2030, dunno if that is a good thing or a bad thing.

I just snagged this on CL earlier today, it is by far my best catch so far there.

I have serious need of a compressor, but I'm also on a serious budget at the moment. I was seriously in the territory of the dreaded "screeching pancake" I've been scanning for months for something both decent and cheap.

I peeled the big promo label, it was cracked and ugly. I included a picture just for reference. I plan on removing the other non-safety/non-spec labels, as they are pretty much shot as well.

I thought I was lucky enough to get a 100% USA made compressor, but it turns out the motor is Emerson, a Mexico made model. Either way, it is thermally protected, and appears to be of good quality. The pump has "Made in USA" in huge letters right on the side of the crankcase, so I was hoping that to be a good sign.

I'm hoping someone could help me figure out the the OEM of the pump.

This thing builds pressure very quickly, and is possibly the quietest compressor I've ever heard personally. I've been around quite a few old "thumpers", as well.

I haven't leak checked it yet, but so far it seems like a great running unit. The only known thing "wrong" with it, is that he lost the original plug to the side (had second regulator hooked up), and the breather cap is missing. He stuck in a vented sprinkler cap just to keep dust out.

Campbell Hausfeld.

I edited my post, some googling found that this is 100% relabel:

http://www.sears.com/campbell-hausf...r=00988721000P&blockNo=2&i_cntr=1350441130226

Guess I didn't do too bad. Guy was asking $100 (even though label said $90), I tried to give him $120 just to be nice, but he wouldn't take it.

Said someone lowballed him right before me, so he was happy to give it to me for his asking price. How someone could screw themselves out of a deal this good lowballing on a price like that is just beyond me.

I assume you got it for $90? Not bad, I wish I found that deal. As for your question, I do not know too much about compressors, but after doing a quick Google search...
Husky tools are basically re-branded Stanley tools, Stanley tools are made by the Stanley Black and Decker Company (which also own MAC Tools and DeWalt). I don't know if this also applies to compressors, but it might help send you in a good direction.

If I might ask, why do you want to know the manufacturer of the pump?

EDIT: in the time I was typing this, you got the right answer xD

I was hoping that it was a common pump (which it turns out it appears to be), so that I could possibly get parts for it if needed.

It seems like it's running perfect though, and according to him it only had moderate use. It's so quiet that you can hold a normal conversation next to it with no trouble hearing.

I have no doubt that nearly every air tool I own will be louder than this compressor.

Top heavy so it requires a little care in moving it, I looked at that one many times when I had a friend needing a decent compressor for simply inflating tires and blowing air, but I didn't think she could handle the top heavy part, and it would have to be moved around.

CH uses the Emerson motors and they work well. I have one on my 7.5 hp two stage and it has been running since 2003 with no problems.

Thanks for the info.

The form factor was part of the reason I was so excited to grab this, as I'd been eyeballing the IR garage mate, but didn't want to spend the extra on it vs. a MAC2400 or something of that sort.

I'm pretty happy, as I wasn't expecting to be able to get a compressor I'd be satisfied with until some time next year. This will hold me off for quite a while.
