My father gave me this tool and I'd like to know what it is. It is marked Plomb, but does not have LA or any other markings. The tool measures 10 1/2 inches from the eyelet to the bottom of the prong.
Thank you! Given the tools that Plomb made, I don't think I would have ever guessed a garden tool. With snow on the ground, I am not going to get to try it out for a while
As a self proclaimed plvmb **** and big time enthusiast I have seen these in old catalogues but never a picture of one! Nice find! They are pretty rare since I don't think they made alot of them... I see them in their ads for sale but I also am wondering if they where given away as thank you gifts from tool distributors??
Yep, ball weeder. Those are pretty rare, I have one that's not marked, so I may not be a Plomb. As weeders go, it's pretty lame, so I expect they didn't sell many.
Yes ball weeder. One of the theories as to why they are hard to find is they were used in the yard, and like a lot of yard tools got left outside and the wooden handle got wet and that led to the demise of it. They are cool, I have one in the dark plomb green, which has a "custom" bend to the fork, presumably to improve the effectiveness of it.
There is a sticky at the top of the vintage thread (HERE) that can help point you in the right direction.
There is a very active Plomb thread HERE.
Looks to me like a caulking tool?
Thanks Username and d42. Since the Sig O found it as she does most of the odd things (including me, I suppose) it was imperative that I at least solve the "What is this?" mystery. Can always count on the good people here.
