Realizing one of my favorite tools to use are spinner handles, aka extensions with a built in screwdriver handle. Having trouble finding the perfect spinner handle in 3/8. Understand from some searches that VIM used to make some, but they appear to be discontinued. Can GJ help me spend some $$$ on tools again? Hopefully I am just incompetent at finding these for sale on the internet.

Requirements:

- Available to buy now
- Impact Rated
- Female in handle where a ratchet or ideally an m12 stubby can provide some more leverage/power

Bonus:

- Wobble or locking extension
- Available in multiple lengths
- Don't have to chase down a tool truck

This Grey Pneumatic 9506WH comes close, but is 1/4 inch unfortunately

I've never seen one rated for impact use.

Ko-ken makes 3/8 handles but I don't think they have a female end. You might take a look at the Ko-ken catalog. You might also check KTC.

The Snap-On F50CSA was discontinued... I'm guessing. I don't see it on the site. Maybe you can find one second hand. It was 3/8 and had a female end.

While looking for that one, I did see they still have the short F40B. I don't know if it has the female end.

I doubt that you will ever find one ! It is hard to find a 1/4" spinner handle with a female in the handle !

Buy a 3/8" drive impact extension and figure out how to mold a handle on it.

Or find oversized 1/4" drive sockets !

I think you’re going to struggle on this one.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a spinner handle rated for impact use either, so a I think you’ll have to reconsider that.

3/8 spinner handles are a bit of a rarity anyway. If you can manage with 1/4 drive, Snap On offer them with both hard handles and the female square drive. If you can compromise on the female square drive, then there are a few in 3/8 drive to choose from.

Snap on offer the hard handle with a short shaft, and the instinct handle with a long shaft. I have the hard handle F40 and it’s great.

Hazet offer one. I have the 1/4 inch version and it’s decent.

Alternatively, KTC offer a very traditional looking one, which looks great, but I don’t know what availability is like in the U.S.

Snap-Off has (or had) one with a Female in handle for use as an extension. I have a 1/4" drive but I bet the make or made 3/8 too.

Not impact rated. Wake me up if you find something that is impact rated...

Ko-ken makes a wobble/fix 3/8" driver. But not impact rated. I've never seen an impact rated spinner handle.

Thanks all for the responses. Was hoping someone saw something out there. I guess my impacting requirement really has me trying my luck on finding something off the shelf.

Why impacting as a requirement? Even as a DIYer am finding myself constantly reaching for my impacting tools to make life easier. Granted I don't think the M12 stubby has the oommpa to destroy a non impact grade spinner handle, but I think the use of some of my other, more powerful, air tools would count as tool abuse. Admittedly, I also get lazy sometimes and everything eventually gets the impact treatment (rather than reaching for the right tool). This always happens when I am tired and/or rushing to get a project wrapped up.

The theoldwizard1 might be right at the end of the day. Am now researching epoxy resin handle molding...

why mold a resin handle? drill or machine down the center of your handle of choice. press an extension of your choice down the center and done. you will have exactly what you want.

i think i have one i made from an sk locking extension and an sk hard handle.

Another good idea. I have an SK hard handle donor in the garage.

I think the Teng Tools M380015-C would work, has everything but the impact rating. The picture doesn't show it but the description says it has a 3/8 female in the handle.

I have Snap-On ones in both sizes. The 3/8" is 8" long. They are not impact . Try Ebay.

Get an impact-rated extension in the length of your choice and add a section of hose as a handle. Use a tight fitting fuel or heater hose. Gasoline or Windex work as a lubricant for pressing on the hose.

I have a few 3/8 spinners; Cornwell, Thorsen, APEX, Snap-on and Proto. None are impact rated though, and as said before, I doubt any will be. Insurance reasons.

But, as SK said, you can make your own!

Because of your requirement for it to be impact rated (which in my mind is totally unnecessary) I could only think of one option.

https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/NPT613507?keywordInput=613507

Now you would have to disable the spinning feature of the knurled collar through some liberal internal application of some JB Weld, or super glue but, you would have a 3/8 drive impact rated spinner with a unique handle

I have an old Snap-on model that used to get a lot of use before the battery operated 1/4" drive came about. Now it just sits. Same for the Yankee screwdriver. Techonology made them obsolete.

I contacted Epsteins for you, as I remembered seeing a 3/8" spinner handle some time ago. Jori got back to me and said yes, they used to have a Granco version. But it's long since sold out. Not impact rated, either. :(

Many thanks. I am trying to get over my impact requirement given the wise advice from Garage Journal.

No prob. If you don't already do so, make it a habit to peruse HJE's website regularly. I've found alot of tools just be visiting that I never would have known about otherwise.
Of course, be prepared for your wallet to get alot lighter! :lol_hitti

Am personally holding out for HJE day to limit the wallet damage. This way I can convince myself not to buy certain things by the time the date actually rolls around. Like why the heck do I need the machete that’s in my cart? My wallet is also happier that the non free shipping + HJE day specials limits beer induced impulse buys.

I am seriously disappointed though they couldn’t find my mythical unicorn 3/8’s impacting spinner handle in their vast inventory although I might be one of the few idiots out there looking for one.

Picked up the grey pneumatic. Not in 3/8 though. For $9 no risk other than the room it takes up in the tool box. The search continues...

Wanted to bring this back up as I started going on the hunt when another member posted about buying a Koken 3/8" spinner handle. Unfortunately, those don't have a female end in the handle. Like already mentioned, the hard handle Snap on was discontinued.

However, MAC does carry them in both 1/4" & 3/8". They are also in the current sales flyer. Now, just just to catch up to the tool truck.

I don't think it's impact rated, since it's a hand tool, but my 3/8 spinner handle is JH Williams, just like my 1/4" one (and about half of my sockets, so it matches)

I don't think it has quite this many colors, but it's the same handle shape as this one. Works fine, had it a long time.

That's a really tall order.
If I had similar need I'd be fabricating a handle around a wobble impact extension. Bore some big old screwdriver handle just a smidge smaller than the extension, heat up the extension and jam it into the plastic handle.

Seeing as how they don't have the little made in USA emblem I guess those are not. Too bad, if they were I'd be strongly tempted.

why not just get a small T-handle which is arguably more useful, easier on the hands, and easy to find?
