Hi all,

I like charcoal but also enjoy the convenience of gas bbq's however don't like having to deal with LP tanks. So I put a wanted add on CL for a Natural gas grill and after a few months ended up with this:

Before I bought it, I ask the guy about the female fitting for the disconnect and he said I can get it from most hardware stores. I searched my local Ace and True-Value with no luck so I go to Home Cheapo and all I can find is this:

It was a BBQ quick disconnect made by "Brinkman". This particular quick disconnect does not fit the male end which is attached to the BBQ. Here are some pics of what it looks like.

I searched around on-line for quick disconnects for natural gas but can't find anything that confirms it would work for my grill. I'd really like to hook this thing so any help on where to find the correct fitting would be great. I don't know if it's worth it but here is what is written on the fitting

MGC ANSI Z 2154/CGA 3.4

thanks

My first advice is to contact Weber and see if they have an adapter. Other than that I would contact a local natural gas co., most of which have equipment sales or perhaps can at least direct you better in your local.

..what I can tell you is that I have a natural gas quick disconnect. The male end looks near identical to yours. The female end was installed by a local plumber when he ran the black pipe. So the take away is that the female end exists.

2nd Hawk's advice - you will find one.

I checked with Weber customer service. I emailed them the photos and they responded confirming I have the correct hose and fittings for my grill and they are sending me a new disconnect. $13.95 + $7 shipping. I guess it will all work out.

Thanks for the responses.

If you are going to use NG to fuel your gas grill, you will need to get a kit from Weber

to convert the valves with the correct size orifices. The LP orifices will be too small

for NG, and the burners won't produce enough BTU's. I run into this all the time.

That grill is already set up for NG, that's the factory hose supplied that weber uses on there NG models.

The Weber set up should have included the quick disconnect for the hose. Check

with a dealer that carries Weber for a replacement, or you can call Weber to see if

they will supply one as a freebee. Let them know it was missing. If you already

have solved the problem, then, "never mind".
