I do not own that exact reciprocating saw, but I would say from experience that the Harbor Freight saw is going to be a bit lower than average quality in comparison to the other reciprocating saw brands that exist in the US. I don't know what your tool accessibility and/or tool quality level is in Brazil, but whether or not the saw is a good deal or not would depend largely on how much it is going to cost you to buy.

If it was me and I needed one, I might very well buy that saw if I could get one in good condition for 50% of new cost or less. Harbor Freight brand power tools are touchy, and it is a bit of a gamble on your end. Some of them will go forever and do just fine, and other units of the exact same tool will break the second you plug them into the wall and pull the trigger. The quality control is known to be spotty. That being said, if it is a used saw and it still works fine that is an indication that it might be one of the good ones, otherwise it would have probably broken by now.

I would say if you need to count on the saw working for you to be able to make money or to get a job done, look for something better. If you want the saw mainly to help you do something faster or more easily, and you have other options to still get the job done if the saw ever fails, go for it.

Jeremy in fact is for Hobby (wood) ... had cost me U$ 25.00 with shipping, the tool is new!

If I buy direct at the Harbor, until to come here in Brazil the total comes to U$180.00 dearly.

Good tools are Bosch (U $ 250.00) DeWalt ($ 350,00) or Makita (U $ 400.00) as you can see my partner (government) takes on average 60/70% tax  ...

Here in Brazil is very expensive good tools.

Jeremy thanks you  for the tip, I'll risk it and buy ...

So, you don't have to pay those high taxes if you buy a "used" tool from the US ?

Hmmmm ............. I smell opportunity.

I have that saw. I don't use it for work purposes, only for hobby use. Maybe 3 times per year.

The saw is good, but the blades it comes with are garbage. They bend up after about 2 minutes of use. I bought good quality blades (dewalt) and the saw is then okay for hobby use.

The wiring inside the saw came apart, the part where the long plug goes in the tool. I had to disassemble the tool and reattach the wiring.

I also had to change the brushes in the motor, but it came with an extra set of brushes I think. Either that or I took the brushes from a HF grinder, don't remember.

As long as you don't need to use the tool for occupation purposes, and only use it a couple times per year, and don't mind having to modify it about once a year to keep it going, and change the brushes after about 20 hours of use, then not a bad saw. If you are expecting to take it out of the box and have it work right the first time, and continue working daily, then forget about this tool.
