Hi GJ, am looking into adding a 1/4 digital torque wrench to the tool collection in the near future because why not? I think I have given up on getting lucky on a CDI via Amazon warehouse. Have been pretty happy with my 1/2 HF Quinn Eclatorq rebrand. Unfortunately they do not have a 1/4 one. What brands outsource to Eclatorq? I heard Carlyle does, but the sales are long gone. Maybe Westward (Zoro) and Summit?

Looking for a model in 2-20 NM range. 2-30 NM is fine too. Thanks in advance for the help.

Not quite as simple as looking for a brand, because hardly any brands outsource all their torque wrenches to Eclatorq, and not too many companies even offer a 1/4.” Take a look at this web page - these are the models that most brands contract with Eclatorq for. Find one you like, and see if you can match it to one on that page.

If you’re open to other brands, I’d take a look at the new Gearwrench 1/4” digital - it’s a pretty nice unit at a very reasonable price.

I bought wp2-030bn from amazon japan a few years ago for a good price.

Dennis Schmidt may have one in stock, username dnschmidt here. He once was a dealer but not sure if he still is.

I use to sell Eclatorq and still would if I could compete against Harbor Freight and Lowes which sell them now re-branded. The problem you're going to have is that the model you want is a specialty item and not something commonly available. Most people want 3/8" drive 20-100 ft-lb and 1/2" drive 50 to 250 ft-lb. I personally have the wrench you're looking for but I'm not selling it but keeping it for myself. I gave one of these to a FORMER friend for setting up differentials. As you can put them into track mode and measure dynamic pre-load. Naturally that ***** kept it and hopefully I'll never see the ******* again in my lifetime. I considered it to be a small price to pay to get rid of him.

Thanks javyLSU probably seriously need to consider the Gearwrench with its additional features for the money. Flex head, high engagement head, and angle are nice to have and can buy it for $175 whenever I get a 20% Zoro coupon the next time around. Looks like the pandemic supply constraints are starting to impact availability. Zoro is a 20 day wait and many places are out of stock. Glad I am not desperate for this.

Trying to cross reference Photos with the Eclatorq website it looks like this Westward is a WE2-030AN - https://www.zoro.com/westward-elect-torque-wrench-14-in-fixed-4ryl2/i/G0618003/?recommended=true

This roundhead flexhead looks close to the WEF series with a different head (maybe a custom spec) - https://www.zoro.com/westward-elect...6/i/G3747091/?recommended=true#specifications

This Carlyle torque wrench is probably a WEF2-030BN or WEF2-030AN - https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/CHT...2AqDgojQdvA-1635688770-0-gqNtZGzNAlCjcnBszQ_R

Looks like AC Delco and Summit use a different manufacturer for their 1/4's. I did find a Summit equivalent of the WEF4-135BN. The Eclatorq website seems to intentionally make sleuthing this hard as I can't access some of the torque wrench specs or they just aren't available.

Good find on the wp2-030bn. Th is 3/8 cousin is only $106 at current exchange rates. At this price I might need a 3/8 too - https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B00932CFTK/

I think this might be related, but $400 is going to motivate me to hold onto my $ - https://www.zoro.com/insize-short-h...212ftlb-ist-ws30/i/G700457040/#specifications

I can be your friend if you want me to be :)

Thanks for the response. Have come to the realization that in broadening my tool collection outside of the common stuff means that I am looking for some of the more esoteric stuff. Am surprised all of the bike fanatics here on GJ are satisfied with their 1/4 clickers and most of the beam style torque wrenches seem to have a narrow enough range in 1/4 to basically require two torque wrenches.

I got a TW14RH1 Carlyle 1/4" clicker purchased through the NAPA dealer in Hammond LA probably 6 months ago, the deal was on here & I took it, along with Carlyle metric flare nut wrenches and Carlyle 1/2" large sockets, std depth. I think it went for about $50.

That's a great deal on the clicker. My main issue with clickers is in lower torque situations (less than 8 NM) I can barely feel the click. Might be an issue with my old Craftsman clicker, but figured I'd give a digital a go since over torqueing bike parts can get expensive real quick.

What attracted me to Eclatorq was the Christmas tree arrangement for the torque. As you approach the torque setting the row of lights (which look identical to a drag racing Christmas tree) go from green to yellow to red. The problem with most digital torque wrenches is that by the time the go off you've already overtorqued something. The downsides of the Eclatorq is the lack of a vibration which is common on other digital torque wrenches. Many times in use you can't see the Christmas tree so you keep going until you hear the beep and by then you're slightly over your desired torque. Second downside is that the ratchets are relatively coarse which seems odd since the ones they make for other companies have finer toothed ratchets.

@dnschmidt Your points are precisely why I decided to fork up the cash for a Snap-on... I was perfectly happy with the steal of a deal I got on my Kobalt digital torque wrenches, until a frame rail (and later a turbo) made me discover I needed a flex head with higher tooth count. Wasn't happy about what they cost, but they really are fantastic torque wrenches that do absolutely everything I need.
