I have checked on dayid.org for information on this vise. Well, there really isn’t any for this model. So here is what I have… C. Parker Model # 2301. It has a 4” wide jaw opens to ~5.5-6” and weighs 42 lbs without it’s missing swivel base. On Dayid.org, I see the 4” in the 200 series have pretty different weights. The 204 weighs 57 lbs and the 234 weighs 89lbs. I would guess that it is more like the 204 (the 104 is a fixed base and is 43 lbs). The collar is in good shape and shows ‘pat no 38 1867’. The numbers on the collar are pretty rough to make out. Those are my best guesses.
My questions are;
What other parker models swivel base could possibly fit this?
I have a 973 ½ and a 975 and both don’t have a threaded ‘******’ on the fixed jaw for the swivel base. Does this have a different swivel locking mechanism?
Is the crack on top of the slide repairable?
I only paid $10, so it could just be a parts donor. I figured the collar alone was worth the $10.
Any information is greatly appreciated.
