Help with Floor Jack Rebuild

I’m trying to rebuild my ProLift 3.5 Ton G-737 floor Jack, and I’m having a heck of a time. Hoping some of you smarter mechanics can lend me some advice.

I’ve replaced all the seals with a rebuild kit, but when I go to pump the Jack, nothing happens. The oil level is correct, and I’ve tried to bleed air out of the system a few times. I think it’s something to do with parts getting improperly rearranged.

I’ve actually been using the parts diagram from an old thread (pic below)

Please tell me where I am messing up:

The far left hole is the cover for the max weight adjustment. I didn’t touch this aside from taking the cap off.

The middle hole is the quick/rapid Jack portion?

The far right hole is some other check valve (inlet?).

What I have laid out is what goes into each hole. Aside from the middle hole, ball bearings aren’t shown in the picture.

I also have 6 balls…but I only need five according to the diagram. 1 for the valve adjust, 2 each for the middle and right holes. Not sure where it came from.

Really appreciate any advice!

The part to the left of the release valve - I'm assuming that's a keeper so that the release doesn't get unscrewed too far? Make sure it's not keeping the release from seating all the way. Other than that, could be you got your balls out of order.

Good call. I’ll check on that tomorrow. I’m slowly getting more convinced I have the balls out of order unfortunately.

Well, I just keep rearranging the check balls until I got it to pump the piston (finally).

However, once I push the piston about halfway back into the cyclinder/reservoir, it stops and won’t budge.

I’ve bled the Jack a few times. What causes this? Too much fluid?

if you are talking about the main ram piston that lifts the saddle of the jack up - yes, too much fluid is one of the possible causes of the piston not retracting back down.
