last week in my mig welding class i started vertical up fillet welds. we've been using 1/8 and 1/4 inch carbon steel. we're running between 20 and 25 volts and around 300fpm wire speed. my problem is the weld has exsessive convexity. otherwords is not flat rather it's built up and pointy. someone suggested i turn the gas flow up. they said the extra flow would help flatten the weld. they also suggested i turn the wire speed down. i haven't had a chance to try that yet. i posted some pictures i don't know how easy it is to see.
