Help with switch

Is the intention here that I snap the tabs off the switch so it will fit this plate?

Or do I simply have the wrong switch? And does the correct switch have a designation?

Snap them off if they interfere with installing the switch.

Thanks. I was hesitant just to tear stuff up to make it fit. But it looked like that might be the way this was supposed to work.

Remove the screws too

Also, remove the mounting screws that are intended for a J-box mounting - otherwise the screw heads will high center on you against the cover.

I...just...tear stuff up to make it fit....that's way {it's} supposed to work.
