Picked up this $10 vintage tool/tackle box awhile back and am looking for any background on the maker Walton Products out of Woodstock Illinois. Most of their boxes were made in Union IL from the few you find on ebay. Any background on the company or how long they were in business? Can't find much after alot of searching. My guess is from 50's or 60's.
Seems most of these were used as tackle boxes but the previous owner used it like I would for around the house. Came with some Thorsen/P&C wrenches, original cork liners, key, and the clever grip-loc handle to keep it from flying open. For a basic tool box it seems very well made and only has minor paint loss. I know it's value is about what I paid so I'm happy to just put it on the bench and keep it working.

Nice box!
I have had several Walton boxes over the years, because I am a collector of antique fishing tackle. Most metal box makers back in the day would use the same outer shell box for both tackle boxes and tool boxes. The difference is generally that tackle boxes have the small dividers in the trays, like yours has. Identical boxes (meaning the outside shell) had similar trays, but usually with no dividers...unless it was a diagonal socket slot.

I too was looking for info on walton
grip loc tackle boxes. I aquired one
from a garbage pile back in 1980 or so
it is green and has 3 trays on each
side that fold in to the central section
I have since replaced the original
cork linings and it has aluminum
dividers. Best tackle box! I have seen
one like it on e-bay auction. I have also
seen a three tray gray one dating
from 1912. I don' know if the company
still exists. My box has a Union Illinois
stamp on it

Hello, I was pondering if you would be willing to copy your key, or send me the key so I can have it copied? I will gladly pay you for your consideration and extension of your key and kindness. Thanks reddog45

Hello, I also need help. I see that you at least have a key. I was wondering if Would you be considerate enough to have a key duplicated for my tackle box, or send me the key and I would willing to have it copied. In any instance, I will pay your for your consideration. I know it sounds trivial to pursue a key for my Walton Grip-Loc, but I would appreciate your extension of your key. Thanks

I see that you have a key with your Walton grip-loc box. Would you be willing to copy a key for me, or send the key and I will have it duplicated. In either case, I'll pay you for your efforts and considerations. Thanks
