My key fob battery died so I attempted to open the screw to replace the battery but the screw is busted. Help?

Is it a large plastic screw on cap? The ones I have seen are actually designed for a coin and not a screwdriver :dunno: A picture would really help on this.

Picture? What do you mean by "busted" did you strip the screw head out?

Even if stripped, you may be able to use a jewelers flat head or a Torx driver to remove it.

A picture would be helpful, otherwise you're just asking for blind advice ...

So, based on no photo, hypothetically you might be able to use a dremel to grind a screw slot in the stripped out screw head and use a small flat-blade screwdriver to remove it. Even if you cut into the plastic case a bit, it shouldn't hurt the functionality of the fob as you didn't cut all the way through into something electronic.

Use a precision flathead screwdriver to remove the stripped screw and replace the screw.

Or buy a new FOB off Ebay. At worst you will have to bring it to a dealer to get it programmed to the car but most can be programmed at home. Google make and model to find out how.
