I'm a bit surprised they haven't offered it in green to compete with the snap on lovers. :lol_hitti

Flame suit on.

Looks flat black to me, like the old style red. Wasn't flat black offered in the past?

Yes, black was offered in the past. I'm not sure if they were ever in the store, or if they were website only or special order. I've never seen one at any of the HF stores I've visited.

I saw this recently, too. But it's only the top that's listed. I wonder if it's some website error or some old stock from when they used to sell the black version.

EDIT-
Here's an old thread from 2010 where someone posted a pic of a HF catalog showing the black version.

Here's another thread with pics of the black boxes from 2009.

They listed some black and yellow in the catalog in the last 10 years. At the time, staff said something to me about no couponing or sale price on catalog items.

I'm sure black paint was cheaper this quarter....same reason they switch the color of all their tools every 6 months...I do like it though

buzz kill, looking at code on old coupons the 98103 seems to be an old code, not a new one. I don't think we're going to see the bottom in black.

I hope they make a slew of them to flood the market. I'd love to snag one in a year at pawn shop for half price of already great deal !! :D

Replacing my black Craftsman set with the HF/US General would be a major upgrade . . . then I'd have pair of 44's (one red and one black)!

In SoCal at least I never see used HF stuff cheap, not cheap enough to buy it used vs new anyway.
