It won't stop running? That is the opposite of their usual problem.

It would be interesting to know when all was said and done how many actually get brought back for the recall. I suspect almost no one who bought one will ever hear about the recall and it will probably be in the low single digit percentages of those sold. I'd be reeeeaally surprised if it was anywhere near 50,000 of the more than 1 million.

Not many I'm sure - but the manufacturer initiating a recall is their attempt to limit liability. They can either do it voluntarily or under advisement from the consumer product safety commission. I "believe" once the announcements are made publicly, a fair amount of responsibility is placed onto the consumer at that point after the manufacturer has made a reasonable attempt to notify the public. One good thing, is that no matter what the condition the product can be returned for a refund or replacement.

To be fair about recalls, just because something can fail doesn't necessarily mean it will.so it's possible that some will just continue to use it with no problems.

It's not too hard to imagine, that anyone would find an electric chainsaw that doesn't shut off more than a bit annoying to say the least, so would probably end up chucked in the trash if it was not knowing about the recall, since that is usually where broken Harbor freight products go.

I have one of those. I bought it to cut up a pile of tree limbs I have in my back yard. I haven't even used it yet. It's no fun taking a brand new item in for a recall; you're supposed to take an old beat up one in and get a brand new one, lol.

New ad in the catalog

Hf $39.99. Compare Stihl at $349.99
HF fails to shut off and sends you to the energency room at a possible cost of thousands. $349.99 is a steal. Didn't I read there there was at least one serious injury? Peoole will willingly pay for safety. The Sawstop is the best selling cabinet saw.

Cut up the pile of limbs then take it back.

Mine has worked without issue, and more than paid for itself. Local HF still hasn't gotten the replacements in. Has anyone had success yet in exchanging theirs?

A basic emergency room visit in my area is probably at least $4,000 now.

That said,

The sawstop is one of the major choices for people who can afford a Sawstop.

Also, just because you buy a tool from a high end manufacturer, it doesn’t mean you’re going to get a tool free of safety issues or other problems.

No problem at all, they saved lots of money at dis-honorable freight so they can easily afford to pay tens of thousands.....
