I just want to say thanks for getting my thread closed; damn couldn't even make it 24 hrs.

To everyone who supported the thread; I thank you.

John,

I did not read that entire thread...way too many posts. But in the 1st two pages of posts, I did not see anything that might bring down the wrath of the admin. or the moderator. In a nut shell, what happened? Were you cautioned? Were you told what the offense(s) was?

the first couple pages had a few offending posts removed. it you continue on you'll see why it was closed. it was nothing that john did as far as i can tell.

i like your setup john. i think it looks pretty good

Honestly I have no clue, it has all been cleaned up by the mods. I didn't do anything; thats why I'm upset with the lock down. Long story short, one guy came in and said I was taking **** about another member "which I did, but the other member and myself resolved our issues." Anyway, the "one guy" said I was saying negative things, and another guy came in defending me "which I need to say thank you for; so thanks dude," saying I was attacked first. Etc, etc, etc. What I saw did not seem that bad, but I signed off after that, who knows what happened after that?

I just want the thread re-opened, a lot of people liked it. I don't get it.

John wasn't the problem - it was the people in the title of this thread, posting in the other thread, that was the problem.:)

I went back and read you closed thread, I missed it yesterday. I'll give anybody credit for buying what they can afford and doing their own work.

But I must say, you tool box looks clean. Clean as in brand new, not well cared for. My first thought would be somebody that went out with a new credit card and maxxed it out at HF.

As I read more, I began to wonder, is this really truly a mechanic. I don't know, not sure. But you spent almost 12 hours (according to your post times) on GJ yesterday. How do you get anything done? What did you get done today in your shop?
Honestly, I would like Bull to check your IP address and compare it to the NOLAfarmerdude that was jacking other peoples pictures off the internet. This almost sounds like his story telling.

Sorry but I find it hard to believe that somebody can clear 1 grand working out of a very small 1 car garage every two days. Not to mention using that garage for heavy line work. It'd be hard to get a full size truck in that garage much less anything bigger.

If I have offended you, I'm sorry but your story sounds "too good to be true". If I'm wrong I'll offer an apology up front. I'm just calling it like I see it.

When I asked how much it was, he admitted to being into the MAC dealer for $70,000! Here's a kid, fresh out of school, hasn't got a job or earned a dime yet and he owes the tool truck 70 large.

I have a real hard time believing a "kid" with no job could get that much, mostly, unsecured credit. That's also a heck of a lot of tools especially with a student discount. The most expensive SO set is "only" half that at list price. http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item...&group_ID=2294&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog

As you said, it wouldn't be the first time someone came on here and took everyone for a ride. :(

Here is a little post Elroy made up some time back concerning the fact the tools don't make the man. Hope you find it entertaining.

You have a very good cross section of tools and the fact they're from the Harbor does NOT diminish their usefulness.

Hello Customer, Welcome to Elroy and Company.
How may Elroy hep yoooou?

I understand you're a professional because you use only Snap-off tools.

Why yes Mr. Customer we at Elroy and Company are truly professional as we use Snap-off tools exclusively.

Well Elroy, I have this rare part in the back of my truck that needs repair. Dumb *** and Company down the street said they could fix it but when I saw their Harbor Freight tools I ran out of that shop as fast as I could. I came straight to Elroy and Company because you use Snap-off tools exclusively.

Why you made a wise choice Mr. Customer. Lets go get the Snap-off tools fork lift and we'll have a look see at your problem just as soon as we get it up on our Snap-off tools work bench.

Opps, sorry about that gash in the side of your new pick up truck. Don't worry, Elroy will fix that right up. We have a fully equipped Snap-off tools body shop just for these situations.

Opps, sorry we broke that casting on your rare part. Elroy will fix that right up. We have a fully equipped Snap-off tools foundry just for these situations.

Would Mr. Customer like a cup of coffee while he waits? We have some freshly ground Snap-off tools coffee. It's the best coffee in town because it's exclusively brewed in a Snap-off tools coffee maker.

Oh there's your problem. It's just a loose bolt. Looks like all it needs is a new Snap-off tools lock washer. Opps sorry I just stripped out that crappy 1/4"-20 thread in your priceless and irreplaceable part. Guess Elroy should have used his Snap-off tools ratchet first instead of his 3/4" Snap-off tools impact.

Feeling a little ill??

The restroom is just down the hall there, around the corner past the Snap-off tools water cooler. It was just remodeled with a new Snap-off tools water closet.

And Mr. Customer says. I'm getting the hell out of here and I'm going back to Dumb *** and Company. At least they knew what the phuck they were doing. :lol_hitti

This is the one thing I can't stand; being called a liar. But, I will respond calmly, and with no disrespect.

First, I have a bag of receipts, the tools were purchased over a few months time; all in cash. Would you like to see them? I purchased the tools as I needed them.

Secondly, yes it is a small garage, and yes I do a lot of "heavy line work." I pop in here on breaks, and yes this site is addictive, and I am spending more time in here than I should.

Yesterday, I replaced a head gasket on a Cherokee 4.0L, and window motor on a Freestar. I profited over $500 "not like you need to know, but I will share." Today I replaced a multifunction switch on a Blazer, and working on installing a 4.6L I rebuilt in an F-150. Tomorrow, I have to diagnose a dead battery on a Tiburon, finish the F-150, and make a video for AutoAce.

Now I don't make a $1000 every 2 days, but I does average out that way. Sometimes more, sometimes less. I'm saving to build a new garage, and after that I would like to build a GTM.

Yes, the garage *****; it is small. But, I do what I have to do "you will see when I post the video.

This is the truth believe it or not; your choice. Feel free to check my IP "to whoever can do that, you have my permission."

Thank you for your input, I hope this can clear the air.

Guys - the very LAST thing we need to do after the Nola episode is to get paranoid about each other. Quit looking for the next one under every rock. If it happens - it happens.

I saw your pics in the last thread. I've usually found that a person who takes good care of his tools, regardless of industry generally exhibits the same care in his/her work.
I have a lot of SO and some other truck tools. I also have my fair share of HF stuff.

A good mechanic will do a good job with just about any brand of tool. A ****** mechanic will do ****** work regardless of their tool investment. I'm way more inclined to judge somebody by their work, not what brand of chrome they spank it to.

And I can absolutely guarantee you none of my girl's friends give a **** what brand of tools the mechanic who fixes their car uses just like most of society, and just like 99% of the people who came in my shop didn't care what kind of tools I have. All they cared about was their bike leaving fixed, upgraded, and clean. period. Having a clean tidy shop is what customers notice, Not the brand of wrenches in your drawer.

So hooray to you for wanting to own your own biz, and keep as much of the money in your pocket to provide for your family. That is what's important.

And don't worry, it's the exact same people over and over on here who feel the need to come in and take a dump on people's threads for no reason but to validate themselves. Don't let them get you down, there is a TON of great info on this site. Just ignore the rest.

Your choice is your choice, and it's cool. You didn't come in here saying, "I hate crappy tools, and you're a ***** for buying them" etc etc etc; and getting the thread locked.

If you can afford it, then more power to you.

I am glad that this issue is being raised. I, and a couple of people that introduced me to this forum, had not come to this forum for a while. We've been referring to this forum as the "I hate Chinese Tool Forum". It was just getting old. Seems like every thread you go to ends up as a "I hate Chinese Tool" thread. I was beginning to wonder why these guys keep going back to buy more of those Chinese tools that keep failing. You would think by now, they would finish breaking all the Chinese tools they purchased when they did not know any better.

I hope in the future, things would improve. I really like this forum, if only we can stop beating that dead horse. By now, we all know Snap On is a better quality tool than HF. Don't need to keep reminding us, we got the point.

Buy whatever you can afford and use it however you please! Good for you.

A Ferrari V10 sure sounds better than a Honda V6 but I'm sure both will get you there safe and sound.

He said "I can't believe" etc. Thats borderline calling me a liar. I think I responded fairly.

Oh and thanks, so I geuss I'm guilty until proven innocent.

Well starting a thread like this is doing nothing but trying to start trouble.
I closed the thread in FP and Bull or Ryan I'm sure will end this one.
This needs to stop end of story.

Already did that; it's not a match to anyone else.

Agreed. That's pretty obvious.

There's a bit of a witch hunt feel in the air.

LOL... Yeah quit talking about HF tools... WTF What really needs to stop is the Abuse that New people have to endure here because there Tools are not Snap on. Every member deserves a chance to show there pride and joy without being questioned or accused of fabricating a story. Ive been down the road where i pushed a 15 year old kid into fabricating a story that was neverending. I actually felt bad for him after i learned of his age, Dont go down the same road i did. Its a lose/lose sitsuation, I promise. I honestly hope after Ryans disaproval of the bashing in the previously locked thread and his personal statement in this very thread that he has given the admins instructions on how to handle badgering, insulting and just downright hanus posts to our members. But... Then again maybe we should just lock ever thread thats not popular with the "Cool Kids" to the "End the story" Give me a break..:wtf:

Want to see what I do? Here, F-150 in my tiny garage "my box in background." I do what I have to do to make a living. I joined this site because I wanted to read about building a new garage. Then I found the tool discussion board.

<a href="http://s1032.photobucket.com/albums/a404/mechanicnamedjohn/?action=view&current=IMAG0149.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a404/mechanicnamedjohn/IMAG0149.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

You DONT have to prove yourself to these guys.

Bull seemed to like my thread. I'm curious who locked it and why.

I did like it, quite a lot actually. Ryan, the site administrator/owner, is the one who locked it.

I am going to publicly state that I believe people need to back off on John a bit here. It's pretty unfortunate that a guy comes here to talk about tools and what he does with them and all these strangers who don't know him from a hole in the wall start playing Pink Panther and acting like he's an undercover agent bent on causing us trouble.

I am also the one who spoke up for the other, former member who was being ganged up on. Turned out he was lying to all of us, yes, but also turned out that it was a 15 year old kid that people were beating up left and right.

But John, I believe that you should stop creating new threads about what happened, or continuing to debate people about the events of the last few days. Let's just move forward from here. If you want to post that video, show us what you do etc. that's great. Let's just not have it turn in to an online fight. And I mean that for everyone.

I am going to lock this now.
