What sizes do you think knockouts are? They're all IPS.
I really only need them to 2 inch. I have some smaller ones and my neighbor has them,,,, its something I should have got a long time ago. I use them only occasionally, did one the other day with holesaw. I really don't need hydro. I see Southwire at Lowes for 250$ and if I had several jobs in the wind would go for it but I am dam near penniless now, tool rich in most areas as it is.

He might be confusing knockouts with the whole dimple die issue.
Dimple die sets come in two flavors, nominal round numbers for use with tubing, OR sized to fit pipe.
Lots of guys get the wrong set for their application, and consternation ensues.

I found one for just under $900, the ease of use is beyond description. It's nothing like a hydraulic Greenlee or Enterpak, no fighting hoses, quick, precise and effortless. Our guys love it.
You position the punch and die and THEN attach the powerhead. It's so easy to position the holes exactly where you want them, it's a pleasure to use.

Check ebay for Gardner Bender knockouts. They’re just as good and usually cheaper.Used and new greenlee or enterpak are out there

I looked at that. The Harbor Freight knockout punch has some bad reviews on durability, with some users complaining about even the first few punches.
If you go that route, it might be worth the investment in a Greenlee punch - and then sell it on eBay if you don't need it anymore.
The other thing to think about with knockout punches is that conduit punch sizes are not a 1:1 correlates to hole size. For that, you need a radio chassis punch.
If you go with a step bit again, I learned from BobbyfromNJ's YouTube channel that the trick is to drill the last step from the inside of the kettle outwards.
Even with that, it took me about 10 minutes with a file (and earplugs) to deburr and smooth the hole to my satisfaction.

The best thing I learned over the years of using knock out punches was to drive them with a battery impact driver and impact socket. Painless and fast.
I had the tin man secret weapon, hi leg av snips. Knocked it out to 1 1/4, draw around the fitting with a marker and maker 3/4 circle cut after I loosened the box from the wall some. Took me about 10 minutes. If it wasn't already installed, full of wire and on the bench it would have been super easy.
