HF new "low-profile ratchets"

looks really thick in those pics for a low profile. maybe the angle or the flash? i havent put my hands on one yet.

So I broke out my digital Caliper and the head thickness measures 14.04 mm, 0.553 inch.

They should come out with a stright 1/4 and 1/2 drive composite like they did with the 3/8 drive.

It looks like eventually they will offer a 1/4" and 1/2" in the new style composites according to this pic. The part #'s don't come up with any results when searching their site though.

Not all that relevant, I know.... But I finally bought one of the old composites in 1/4" yesterday.
It's already turned into one of my favorite ratchets.

yea im waiting for those. the 3/8s one is great for overhead work where you dont want to be holding a heavy tool for a long while. thats what i use it for. even suspension work.

The push button ratchets are nice, I have the push button composites, and the 1/2 extendable. However adding a quick release button to a low profile ratchet defeats the purpose. If the confines of the space you are working in calls for a low profile ratchet, the last thing you want is the push button being depressed and possibly losing a socket in an already confined environment.

None of the truck brand low profiles I have seen have a quick release button either....

How do u like the extendable? I was thinking about picking it up too.

Its my go to ratchet for alot of tasks including wheel lug nuts, crank bolts, clutch hub nuts, basically anything that is torqued to over 50 ft lbs. It just makes things easier, and as a bonus it takes less room when put away.

I also like the new style Red/Black composite ratchet and will wait until I can get a matching set before I decide if I am gonna switch from my Grey/Black composites.

you can't switch you need them all. The red and black composites are longer than the others

Guys i have the 1/4 flex, 3/8 flex, long 3/8 flex/ long 1/2. Out of those ratchets the only 2 i have not had issue with was the 1/4 and 1/2. The issue is if you put any kind of toquor on them the head gets super floppy and you can strip out the torx screw i have replaced the 2 3/8 at least 5 times. I am a auto mechanic for a living. Now the head of the ratchet is amazing. All metal insides solid head just the handle where the ratchet head sits in *****. I am trying to find a way to fix this. because i cant afford snap on or matco. I have to use what I can afford.

They do sell the same ratchet in non-flex now if those will suit you better.

Using a washer, or grinding the shoulder off the bolt or something.

I know my Toptul flex head ratchets have a slightly bent washer that keeps them from flopping around. I'm sure you could take a normal washer and just give it a slight bend and it'd do the same.

I know I was saying that the ratchets heads are great I was commenting that I have the flex heads and I like my ratchets that I am going to buy the non flex heads I guess when I tried to edit my post I did not do it right
