i'd be ticked too if I wanted one socket replaced and they gave me my money back. Now I'd have an incomplete set...with no doubt one of the most used sizes missing.

At mine they would pull the replacement out of a new set, and throw the rest in the clearance/return bins for a discount (A laughable one).

Come to think of it, I did see a couple socket sets with one missing in the bargain bin last time I was there. I thought it was odd they would accept a returned item with a socket missing, but now I know what went down

I don't recall ever seeing loose sockets in the Raleigh store, but as I said I don't go there very often. If I do go it's to get something like latex gloves.

Seems to me they'd be smarter to open a set to replace a socket.....then keep that set aside for the next replacement. Or...the sets cost them so little that it doesn't matter.

^^ I understand that, but what do expect from HF, world class service, workers are probably getting paid minimum wage and they sell average stuff.

These are all among the many reason I would NEVER buy a socket set at HF. I try to only buy items nobody else has like tarps and rare earth mags.

Corporate America, does not run on common sense. Ive done 2 short stints with large corps. I did a short stint, oh, maybe 12 years ago. I made it 9 months, and had a sit down with my boss, and proposed the question:

"Do you want the solution, or are you guys in love with the problem ?".

They had employed me, looking for the solution, but when I got there, I shortly there after, found out they where in love with the problem...

This socket business is not different.

As I put it, daily, the "house" was "throwing out the baby with the bath water", and at the same time, in .INC fashion, looking for a better bottom line.

I left, because there is no helping the non-willing. Stupid is, as stupid does.
