i like the frosty look of the hazet sockets. hmmmm.... might have to get a set and see how they run.

Where's a good place to buy these in the US and how much do they run? $300 - $400 or more is out of the question to me

Hazet is very expensive. On a side note I did buy some Ampro sockets that have a similar look to them. Taiwan though.

No secret I am a SO fanboy, but I will go further and explain my choice in this case.

I am a fan of the flank drive plus wrenches and also the way Snap On sockets (6pt) grab on the "flat surface" of the nut or bolt and makes for a better grip. I would gladly use any socket that uses this same technology or design. I would never use a socket that "grabs" on the corners to get its grip.

Just my .02 YMMV

I only own Craftsman sockets. If money were no object I think I would buy Hazet or Stahlwille as I have friends that rave about how nice theirs are.

For chrome flex sockets: all Snap-on.

For other USA made sockets: Snap-on, Williams, Proto, MAC.

I personally own Snap-on, MATCO (which some I believe are made by Armstrong)SK and some FACOM. I also have CM and Proto in my own garage. I definitely admire the German quality, but in my opinion NOTHING EVEN COMES CLOSE to Snap-On.
