Just finished a new garage built beside a hill. The footer was excavated right at the foot of the hill. It has a three block foundation and the footer extends about a foot beyond the garage wall toward the hill. So I'm wondering what we might need to do to prevent problems from drainage runoff from the hill while the footer is still uncovered. The pitched roof will also drop water in the same location. Should we use the excavated dirt to build a berm higher on the hill to deflect? Add a drainage pipe on top of the footer to go around the garage? Or just backfill on the footer with pea gravel? Other ideas?
