I was in my local pawn shop the other day, and in the case where they keep the snappy tools, was this strange digital adjustable torque wrench. They had it priced way too high, but after some haggling I walked out of the store with it, and a mac/harris cutting heating torch set (cutting tips, rosebuds, regulators, everything but the tank) for $60.

Curious if anyone has ever seen/used/heard of Hilmor tools. The adjustable wrench portion appears to have been made by Bahco, who also makes my snap on adjustable wrenches, but it has this cool little tooth in the jaw which is actually pretty helpful.

I've used it a few times, and the torque range is quite adjustable, and when checked with some of my known calibrated click type wrenches, is dang accurate. It seems to work pretty well. I'm new to digital torque wrenches and just wonder if anyone else has a backstory or is more familiar than I?

Hilmor is primarily a plumbing tools company, pipe benders and such, atleast thats how I know them.
Part of the Irwin group of companies.

Hilmor makes refrigeration tools. That torque wrench will be for tightening flare nuts on ductless split units. Companies often have pretty specific torque specs depending on the size of the piping.

Yes it is for flarenuts on mini splits AC. Because of non standard nut head sizes, an adjustable head is good for this.

the max torque on that tool may not go as high as regular torque wrenches meant for car. Try not to exceed the range.

I actually bought this because of the very low torque values. Things that need 5 in/lbs. I ride mountain bikes, and many parts there are carbon, and require pretty accurate torque values.

I bought a lot of tools a while back that came with a pass through socket set. The 1/4 and 3/8 adapter from these are perfect in this thing.

I have snap on click type torque wrenches I use for the big stuff. Theoretically I can tighten to 600 lb/ft with those, Tightest I've ever had to go is 400 lb/ft on my stupid track bar in the truck. Took about everything in me to get it that tight.
