I was smiling ear to ear on the way back. I did not even stop at the local Harbor Freight with a 25% off coupon in the phone :) (Still wondering how that could happen though ) Anyway, the total amount I spent, with gas money, is $175. Keeping that in mind, let's see the goodies like a 5 course meal!

Hors d’oeuvres, nothing special, just keeps the conversation going. 56 piece Milwaukee socket set. Unopened. So I just use a stock picture.

Appetizer: NOS vise-grip pliers set in a displayable pouch. It is marked as American Tool Companies. So the date should be 1985-2002. Hope it is closer to 85 than 02 though. It is a bona fide appetizer because the bright yellow is what attracted my attention first. Otherwise, I would mistake the golden opportunity as a pile of junk and pass on. After watching the Project Farm vise grip video, my interest in vice grip increased a lot. But the Malco stuff are just too pricey. So this will do it for me. It is actually Malco and Irwin, top 1 and top 2 rolled into 1. The heritage, the history and the condition just cannot be beaten.

Beverage, Bluepoint Channellock pliers. It has been used a couple of times. But once I clean up the dirt and grime and some surface rust, it should be passable as NOS. No fundamental damage to it at all.

The main course! Let's do it in army officer ranks.

Second lieutenant: VVJ series 3/8 inch breaker bar. Never used (see the anvil). Since I have already got something like this. It has to be the lowest ranking one here. Sorry buddy.

Image_20221230_145858_381.jpeg

First lieutenance, 6 inch needle nose pliers. The previous owner actually have used it a couple of times. Looks like he even cut a few wires with it. What a sin! But it should clean up really nice and sweet. No fundamental damage at all.

Image_20221230_150815_802.jpeg

Captain, brand new, never used VVL 3/8 drive flex head ratchet. It might be of higher value than the later, higher ranking ones. But it is commonly seen on eBay etc. So the exciting factor is not there. Sorry have to be honest.

Major, how about juicing up the vise-grips with some Craftsman power? I have been looking for these (mint cond.) forever w/o luck. Did not expect today is the day. They look used. But they are not. The jaws are perfectly new. Just collected a bunch of dings in the tool box. I am wondering who made these for Sears? TIA for any help.

Lieutenant colonel, a pair of RHFT 3/8 ratchet. A V series and a VJ one. Cannot tell any difference. Don't know why V series have more 'street cred'. Given all the new innovations in ratchets, these don't seem that exciting to me. Also I have to hold the spinning wheel steady to change direction. Not very convenient. However, if other more knowledgeable people say they are good, they must be good.

Colonel, a pack of three adjustable wrenches. Others might not rank them as high. But I have a soft spot for adjustable wrenches and collect them. They are a lot more useful than they are 'supposed' to be and I collect immaculate Cman versions. The old school package does look better.

Brigadier general, a pair of pliers. Just a pair of slip joint pliers?

Image_20221230_161146_507.jpeg

Maybe, let's compare it with 'another' pair of slip joint pliers?

Image_20221230_161146_756.jpeg

Look about the same? Switch to another side?

Image_20221230_161146_957.jpeg

What is it? It is a slip joint hose clamp pliers baby! Talking about rareness or rarity!

Major general, 11 piece SK-sourced Craftsman professional SAE wrench set. I know I want to and I will get a set like this. So I am not really that excited. It ranges from 5/8 to 1 inch. Missing 1/4 and 11/16. And there is still the 4 piece super large wrench set out there. I am pretty far away from getting a full set. Kind of an unfinished project.

Image_20221230_165241_949.jpeg

Interestingly, I also bought some SK wrenches earlier this year.

So I compared the 3/4 Cman Pro vs the 19mm SK. Quite some difference. Cman Pro is longer, thinner, and more beautifuler!

Image_20221230_171933_868.jpeg

End of main course.

Dessert, Snap On T72, only 4 inches long. Goes really well with my TF72

You're comparing a standard length SK wrench to a long pattern Craftsman. Apples to oranges. You need to compare a long pattern SK to the Long Pattern Craftsman Professional wrench. then they would be identical twins aside from the names & part numbers. :wtf:
I don't get the excitement over the western forge made Craftsman pliers & adjustable wrenches. :dunno:

You are right. I just like them I guess. But that pair of hose clamp piers is really rare. I searched eBay for a while and did not see anything like it.

PS. Darn it. Found a used one.

A 3/8 u-joint and a u-joint spark plug socket. It is kind of surprising to see these G-series u-joints using roll-pins. I thought by the time G series show up, they all use those solid pins. Also this is the first time I see a u-joint spark plug socket. I really like this design because one can use extensions of different lengths, instead of being forced to buy spark plugs with fixed extensions. This is the most rationale design of them all. Now, I just hope I can take a time machine back and make them magnetic, then I can actually use it.

which is an oil filter wrench for Fiat?

Image_20221231_094903_434.jpeg

Next is a bunch of 'wobble' bit socket. These bit sockets are strange. They not only wobble, they can even be easily pulled out of the socket. Hopefully, someone can tell me more about them. Are these gimmicky tools?

I think that 12mm hex key was for air cooled VWs but, that was a long, long time ago.

I like the dinner and military metaphors. Probably should have used enlisted ranks since those guys are the ones that do all the work.

Nice scores, great presentation.

I've yet to come across the 24" Craftsman adjustable, in any condition, let alone like new. Very nice! (those Vise Grips are excellent as well)

Gosh, I visited your eBay store. It is like getting compliments from master of Craftsman collection!
I think I saw 24'' Craftsman adjustable twice in the past several years.

PS: I looked thru your items and I just realized that Cman also have a 16'' adj. wrench. I always thought that after I got mint 12 and 15'', I am done. Now the job just becomes a lot harder.

Somewhere on this board someone posted these Cman locking pliers were made by Parker.

Great haul, I like the vise grips and the Cman pros

The Milwaukee set sure could be handy in a road box

Oh, the 24 in adjustable is sweet also

Those 3 piece Cman adjustables sell quickly for me

I didn't keep a running total but you bought at a wholesale level or better, well done

You’d hate what I’d do with that 24” adjustable. It’d be caked in pipe dope, paint chips and oily slobber before you could say Western Forge.

Until I tried Knipex for myself, I didn't know any better regarding pliers. But there is definitely a better and worse for pliers.
