Grabbed this set of Made in USA Husky screwdrivers that were on the clearance rack. I "needed" a set to put in a box that I use for working on firearms. These have some well-ground tips that should work OK for that.

Marked down from $19.97 to $8.00.


They also had some Coast LX311 Liner Lock Folding Knives marked down from $9 to $5. Not the most sturdy knife, but I bought one to throw in the tackle box.

I saw a Milwaukee 2453-22 M12 fuel 1/4 impact at my store in N Dallas for $139. Not sure why it would have been marked down.

Not unusual. Several of us ordered this kit at that price a month or 2 ago.

china flare nut wrench will round stubborn hard to remove lines. BEWARE! that 8 dollar wrench wiill cost you way more in hell to fix or replace lines/radiators....etc

Yeah, this is one place where you don't want the "lowest common denominator" tool. Spring for (new) SK.

I got a set of these, I think they are fine wrenches. I'm not a professional mechanic, don't live in the rust belt, nor work on industrial machinery. I work on cars with 200K miles, mowers, small engines, and the occasional tractor and bobcat. These will bust off any of those flare nuts without any problems. Hydraulics, Fuel lines, etc. I think they are a steal at $9. Anyone who needs Snap-On/SK level flare wrenches makes a living with them day in and day out, and aren't buying their wrenches from Home Depot. Just my opinion.

I would completely agree. I have some of the older versions of higher dollar brands (Mac, Proto,Bonney) but not complete sets. Generally I use Craftsman unless I expect to have problems. Rusty brake lines or fuel line I would be wary of but on nice clean and easy to reach I use whatever is handy.
What irritated me about an hour ago was working on an awning at a restaurant when the manager breaks out a tool set. It was an Ace set from probably 20 years ago but in a black plastic case and in good shape. The ratchet and 1/4 socket driver were nearly identical to my Snapon. If you changed the name I wouldn't have known. I bet that ratchet cost twice as much as his whole set. I hope at least the internals are much better.

I was looking at a set of husky tools and went to Home Depot to pick out a set with a case. Then figured I would eventually have an actual tool box to hold everything so decided on getting the Husky set without the case.

This is the set I picked up, and did not realize it until I got home that it is marked online for $299.99.

Check your local stores..I paid $99 for this 307-piece set. Picked up an extra set for my dad as well. Thought it seemed like a pretty good deal. Everywhere I check has it listed for $299 so I was pretty happy

May have found last one in Easton, Pa, but there are probably a few more out there. SKU 0000-649-305. Marked at $18, but ring up at $9. Got mine for $8.10 with military discount.

Had these gifted to me about 6 months ago, after the HF ones I also got gifted years ago broke. Much better quality than the HF units, and they seem to be better fitting on the couplings and such. More lobstery)which is actually a good thing, as the outsides of the HF ones snapped off.

I live in the UP of Michigan, so definitely the rust belt. I haven't had them strip anything yet(only used 20-30 times).

But at the end of the day metal lines are pretty cheap. And if its something I care about(project vehicle, or tow pig) or someone's vehicle I care about, if the brake lines/ATF lines are that rusty, I'm going to be replacing a large chunk of it anyway. Just my opinion, if I did it for a living of course it would be a different story.

Just did a phone purchase on a set for my wife's car. Need to rustle up a tool bag for it.

NICE set!

SAE and Metric in everything.

Made in China Some ratcheting wrenches not extra long and not offset.

But full polish (Pretty nice) and every size, no skips.

A lot of 12 point sockets.

Very heavy.

Lots of combo wrenches, all straight.

Lots of sockets, regular and deep.

Not loaded with bits.

Biggest problem is it doesn't have a case, so need to set up a tool box for it (And it's very heavy) so maybe 2.

Now that we have it, it occurs to us that she won't know how to use most of it. So making it a car set is problematic.

We might pick and choose from my other tools and put together a car set that she or someone helping her could use for typical on the road car problems. Big problems on the road will require towing anyway.

And tools for prying stuff up, so you can smash it again.

One more negative on that $99 set of China Husly tools.

The markings on the sockets are so faint as to be almost invisible to an old guy with eyesight problems.

And it will take numerous socket organizers to organize all the sockets in this set.

So after having the Husky single shot pneumatic grease gun on "clearance" for a few bucks off they've finally dropped them to $8 'n change. Sorry, didn't grab an item # or pic. I've never really wanted a single shot grease gun; I do have a continuous flow that's nice when its not cavitating.

I went in today to get the 6 piece flare/line wrench set. They had none... listed on website for 19.. and change. Had an employee search and they are on buy back or something and clearance price is 9.00.

Just a heads up for Canadian Home Depot shoppers, looks like Home Depot is dropping Irvin clamps and replacing then with the equivalent Dewalt style. My local Home Depot had the Irwin Clamps 50% off.

Not clearance, but Home Depot has this Dewalt 20 volt Max 5 piece set for $299. Only down side is that it comes with 2.0Ah batteries. The deal is good today only.

A little more patience was further rewarded today. In noticed they had moved a short pallet of similiar but different shade of my tile to the front of the store and put an out the door the price tag on it. I looked to see if they still have some of my pattern--yep, they do. Take it to customer service and ask for a price check. Price checks out about $5 cheaper per box. Got my transaction rerung and for $100 less than what I had in it before. For being a no discount dealer wheeler, I think I'm in the 30-40% range.

That's a steal. I have the same one and have been using it quite a bit. Bits are holding up so far. The advantage of the one in the holiday gifts area though is that it has a few extra long bits, but for $5 you can't go wrong.

I have been waiting for it to go down in price. I may have to run over to the HD here to see if they still have them (had at least 20 last week which is why I held off to see if they come down in price).

I couldn't find that model number at my HD. The only ones I found on sale were the 66 (i think) piece $30 set for $22 and the 47 piece $20 set is $17.

I may just buy the $22 set and hold onto the receipt in case it goes lower in price. I wanted to get the $55 floorjack set and couldn't fit in my jeep with my coworker and his dog with me.
