Exchanged an online ordered M18 2655 for a in-store M18 2654, even exchange. The CS rep was told the M18 2655 had warbling whine and should have been RTV'd but at the end of the day it ended up back on the store shelf.

First pic was a set of magnetic Bessey nylon vise jaws I found on clearance at 2 stores yesterday. Not sure it's an incredible deal, but I think it's pretty fair. I bought a set for me and tried them last night, they stick just fine and look like they'll do the job.
The 2nd and 3rd pic are my first penny deal!
I was traveling yesterday coming home from seeing family so I decided to stop at stores along the way and see what I could find. Pickings were slim, many of the current deals you guys have now are not priced the same in my stores and price checks confirm that. That's odd, I know, because usually HD stores are mostly the same as stuff starts to clearance out.
Anyways, one store's tool department just looked a mess when I walked in and I thought "if anyplace is going to have stuff hidden this is it". Digging around, I stumble on the DeWalt driver which I had been looking for to get for my dad. He likes cordless screwdrivers and his old died on him. I expected to pay whatever the last mentioned price was - around $15-18? I went to do a price check and it rang a penny - SURPRISE! I canceled and walked away to look for more stuff. When I found nothing I dug a penny out of my pocket and prepared to do what many on here say - scan, pay, walk out before anyone notices. I walked up and got through the scan and pay part but then the machine wouldn't spit out my receipt. I decided "oh well" and started to leave until the self-check girl called to me to stop and I thought I was out of luck. I turned around and she says "don't you want your receipt?"
The receipt had spit out at her desk instead of my self-check, she handed it to me (I assume she never looked at it) and I left. Yay, lol...
So thanks everyone, now back to the hunt.![]()

I have noted that most of the HD stores put a lot of returns back on the shelf. A couple of months ago I purchased several Rigid tools and when I tried to register them for the Lifetime Service Agreement, they stated it was Incomplete. I contacted Rigid and they informed me that the tools had been previously registered to someone else and all they could give me is the 3 year Agreement unless I sent them the original receipt from the original purchase..
This putting of things back on the shelf, I think is a big mistake mistake as some of the tool I returned were showing a little wear on them as I used them doing some construction work... I had just returned them and bought another one..
The following day I had to go back to the same store to buy some other things and noticed the same items I had just returned were back on the shelf again for someone else to have the same problems I just went through??????????
I am now waiting for the LSA approval on this set of tools.. Keep your fingers crossed.
Always check your tool out thoroughly for any sign of wear or use as soon as you purchase them and register them ASAP!
Was Home Depot selling the tools as new? If you really pushed it they could have got in big trouble over selling a used product as new. There was a big lawsuit years ago over selling refurbished items as new without disclosing the fact. It's also ****** on Ridgids part that they were not willing to work on that problem especially if you had a receipt for the item from Home Depot

I just have to try and picture the logistics of trying to self checkout a DWS782 or DW745.
I would do whatever I had to do to get it for a penny, but you have to look like an absolute tool trying to scan one of those huge things in the self checkout lane![]()
I had this happen to me recently during the $150 off promo. I picked up the Milwaukee Fuel 2763-20 and when I got home, realized that it had a couple markings on it. Didn't think TOO much about it, but was a little annoyed. Went back the next day to exchange it and realized that 3 of the 4 on the shelf were all definitely used. When I tried returning my original one, I got the third degree because I pointed out that I didn't want to buy a used tool with a "new" price. Most of the time they don't even open up the tools to check if they are used or not.

I got 3 large complete wheel barrow 3pc. kits thru self check out. All for a penny for each kit Just keep smiling.
Link?
It was in 2010, the year of the penny deals. Things marked down to .03 were suspect as being a penny. 3 weeks after it was marked down to .03 it went to a penny. Employees back then were just plain lazy to pull the items off the shelf. On slickdeals there was a running wiki of penny items. Ah, the good old days.
i was told items like these get donated now.. who knows.. still dont understand home depot doing liquidation auctions instead of just marking down in store and letting some people find hidden treasure.. no reason why i should find people selling milwaukee heated hoodies for $70 that they got from hd's liquidations..

I bought a Ridgid 13" thickness planer a couple months ago. I didn't notice until I got home that the box had been retaped. Upon opening it, I discovered that the planer inside was broken in about 3 different places. I was pretty pissed off.

Tell me more about these HD liquidations....sounds like a great way for group buy here on GJ.
Ridgid Air Roofing Cutter is now a penny. UPC 648846058177
Black and Decker 800 watt inverter was $80, now 20.03 SKU 560944
Should be a penny very shortly
There are 5+ Rigid cordless shopvacs in Iron Mountain, MI (49801) for $20. I took a picture, but my phone must have forgot about it.
Lots of them pop up on craigslist in my area. They aren't advertised as a "HD liquidation sale" but there are pallets and pallets of Ryobi/Ridgid/Dewalt/PC/Milwaukee tools wrapped up. You big on the whole pallet and get whatever is on it. I picked up my Ridgid R4512 table saw from a reseller of one of these pallets. It was a return with a damaged box so the store wouldn't put it back on the shelf. Saw was brand new.
I've seen those ads before. I thought it seemed shady that someone would have such a pallet full of mixed brand tools like that.
Sugar land tx had has 8 miter saw stands for a penny but they won't sell them :/. To high for self checkout
well that's annoying...
Is there a reason they won't sell it at the last clearance price before a penny?
Soon as I walked away, manager told 6 employees not to take them down for anyone.
Found a couple unicorns. I would've had three but the woman running the self check saw the screen as I was price checking the first one and said they couldn't sell it. I'll have to be more careful next time I guess.
Sorry if the pictures are giant. I can't resize on my phone.
