Please post what your friend is getting. I, too, am midwest, but about 7 hours from Chicago. So he has no worries that I'll get any of his deals. None of the east coast deals translate to here. But Chicago ones should.

I will ask him to post here.

LMAO. Yeah, you don't mean to give me ****.

I fricking LOVE the "How many deals have you posted" argument which has NOTHING AT ALL to do with the subject. Nothing.

All I am asking is post your regular deals here and do the penny stuff in another thread. Christ, that is not asking too much. Are you one of those guys that wanted to keep Hot Deals all in a single thread too? Can you imagine how bad that would be? I am asking for a reasonable compromise. Please.

I'm done now. Please continue with the ******** logic of not doing something as simple as making a separate thread for things that litter this one up.

Hey...If you don't want to read through the rest to get to the penny deals, move along. Those of us that go to the stores to find the deals have to tread through all kinds of misses, manager "Heck no's!", and wading through endless barcodes just to bring this stuff to the site. The least you could do is be thankful for the work that people are putting in to even bring this stuff to your attention. Gee whiz, I can't believe people whine about someone telling them about great clearance deals....

How do you handle large items? Haul them up to self checkout, then haul them back if not a penny? Can you take a picture of the bar code and scan that?

I got hold of one of the Bostitch nailers that was up in the cage for $48 (I know, not a penny), thinking that I might ebay it, but that must have just been an excuse, since now I'm keeping it!

If the item is huge, first write down the sku. Then check that sku on the price app. If it returns a penny, or if it returns "item not found", then it is most likely a penny. Then take that item to self checkout, and ask the attendant to use her handheld scanner if it is too big to do it yourself. If they give you static about it scanning as a penny, show them the email from corporate that I posted a few pages back.

lol check my ebay in my sig. Sold a few already. Also got a Ridgid Roofing Nailer for dad for father's day.

I have no clue how people are making out with large items like miter saws for a penny. I can't imagine these people are lifting them up onto the SCO to scan them. They must just have some clueless cashier scanning it.

You could always have any employee with a handheld scanner check the price, but if it turns out to be a penny, you probably just lost your chance.

Spn1025 LOL I was one of those guys that picked up a Dewalt portable table saw, the ones from black Friday. I was about 3 month ago I posted it on the thread, I saw the red special offer on the box and it scanned a penny. The cashier stopped walked over to another cashier who scanned it with his hand scanner and gave it to me for free. I only did it because I knew it was gonna be a penny. Ended up costing my 30 dollars because it was missing the nut, washer and blade. I looked like it was a display model. I was new never been touched

lol... I did it twice...on some husky 40" 10 drawer tool cabinet....they had to bring it down with a forklift....

http://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-40...-Cabinet-Set-in-Black-HOTC4010B1ARS/203594224

I first had a very clueless forklift down bring it down and put in on my cart...then I rolled it to cashier who scanned it..came up penny deal....She in turn called manager who say mispriced and new price is handwritten $350...HAHA....to which I fought back and forth, standing my right saying federal or state laws dictate whatever scanner price comes up or lower then price posted is what customers pay....nothing more....It was a OK corral stand...finally they gave in and gave it to me for penny....

its a little hassle but payout it good...but you could be marked man when you go in again and they recognize you....

The icing on the cake was comment from cashier to manager....she said so give him to penny....yah...no choice we brought it down and its on his cart....give it to him for penny....haha.... the scowl look on that cashier said it all....

another store manager was nice...forklift guy scanned price first, said oh oh....got to talk to manager before he even brought it down....He returns and saids....do you have truck or something to take it today...I said yes... He saids...manager said to give it to you for free....no cashier receipt or anything.... cashier saids what, why to fork lift guy....haha...why don;t they give it to us...

I think I wrote about it somewhere in this thread...

Can you guys start a different thread for this penny stuff? It is really clogging up this deals thread, especially when we get daily reports of what everyone did and did not find for a penny. Make a separate thread for it and go wild with it if you want.

Penny deals are still a unicorn for me. Had a few over the years but never actively hunted for them. Maybe one day when I retire from my day job...LoL

A separate penny thread makes some sense since searching for items slated for destruction will vary from store-to-store and state-to-state. Even the folks at SlickDeals makes a SEPARATE thread for HD penny deals. Probably up to the mods to decide whether this thread is getting over-run from slickdealers posting penny unicorns.

This HD clearance thread like the Lowes thread was a great source for information on lower than normal prices, price errors or special deals that most working folks have a chance in finding rather than spending hours in HD searching for the elusive penny leftovers.

The thread on Slickdeals is a combination thread of all HD clearance **.06, **.03, and penny deals. I should know, I created that thread.

Milwaukee Fuel impact driver, bare tool, marked $189 (was supposedly part of a set)

Sells for $125 new at various retailers.

I ask CS how much for the bare tool (it had been sitting on the shelf for at least a month with the $189 tag on it)....$50

Not bad, if I say so myself.

I'm pretty sure the New Hampshire Consumer Protection Act also says they have to sell it for what it scans as. Check your state laws.

Edit.. it's not part of the NH CPA, but I know I read it somewhere. Maybe from the Bureau of Weights and Measures.

My HD doesn't even carry the bostitch pneumatic stuff. No chance of getting the deal here.

They Never carried it, or they just don't carry it now?
My store did away with Hitachi and about half of the Bostitch stuff. Now they carry a lot of Dewalt, a few Bostitch, a few Porter Cable, 1 or 2 Paslode, and a lot of Ridgid.

What do they carry now and what did they carry before the big nailer changeover 2 months ago?

I'm relatively new to GJ. I've read many interesting topics. This forum has been really informative and paid off today. I went to HD to buy insulation and went over to the garden department. Dang if I didn't find one of the 4-gallon backpack sprayers listed here a couple of pages back. It was on the shelf with other sprayers and didn't have a tag on the shelf. The box did not have a yellow sticker but it had a sticker to hold for the 4/19 spring black Friday event. I checked the price at the register and it was $.01! I scanned the insulation and added the sprayer. Purchased all with no problem.

I checked another item I found on the clearance rack and it showed up for a bit less than the sticker on the rack. Still not a good deal but its price is declining. So, what I have learned here and witnessed in person is that clearance item prices are fluid. I think the penny items should be listed here because they are just clearance items that have just fallen through the various clearance prices to the bottom of the ladder.

There are two Weber natural gas grills on clearance at the .03 level.
Weber Spirit E-310 natural gas 1000-023-435 - $130.03
Weber Genesis E-310 natural gas - sorry no sku - $180.03

if you don't have an NG hookup you might be able to flip these quick to fund your tool .
habit. They seemed pretty available in the northern VA area. Note also that craigslist seems crowded with them.

regarding whether there should be a different thread for penny deals... don't change a thing! deals still move from .06.. .03.. penny - who is going to keep track and move things from one place to the other, etc.

I do agree that the education of clearance and penny deal shopping should be posted elsewhere, so we're not repeating it over and over. Make it a Sticky, and let HomeDepotRob post it.

Obviously the yellow tag shows a different price - did you just scan the stock barcode? Thanks!

Actually I found the lower prices in the Price Check app first. They had some clearance nailers and old display models out on a cart with these high price tags on them. I double checked the prices in the Price Check app, and noticed they were a lot lower. They still had more clearance nailers, but the prices didn't drop yet.

Something weird just happened to me a few minutes ago at HD. I found two items that were a penny. Went through self checkout. Everything scanned at a penny. I proceeded to pay and dropped in a dime to the machine. So I stand there waiting for my 8 cents change and receipt to spit out. NADA. Instead a message "please wait for attendant" popped up on the screen. She tried to claim it was a computer error and that I am not allowed to buy those items. I called her out on her BS story and demanded to see a manager. Manager came over and instantly agreed that I am entitled to the penny items. She pushed some button on the main computer, and the change/receipt dispensed,

Anyway, I have never seen that "please wait for attendant" appear after actually paying for the penny item before.
It changed to see attendant because she stopped the transaction. I had that happen to me after i paid. She told me that she would have to refund me my money and pay the last clearance price LOL. I asked for the manager especially after she was holding up my merchandise after I had paid for it and i clearly owned. Long story short I walked out with my stuff a couple of minutes later after breaking it down to them what the policy was.

Oh geez... HomeDepotRob and THEPENNYGUY need their own "HD penny thread"... just like the extreme couponers need their own tv show. Bragging about your penny deals hasn't helped the normal people looking for deals that are actually possible to find.

someone (me) already answered that question a while back...

I've tossed a nickle at a confused cashere and told him to keep the change and walked out the door.. i did this with the dewalt miter saw.. it's best to use the register closest to the big doors when using this approach:)

.... i call it the 'nickle flip'... as i always tip for good service:pimpflash ..unless there is a guard at the door no one will physically stop you weather you pay or not.. in this case you paid so your doing nothing wrong

The Dewalt driver sets in 48 piece and 37 piece kits were down to $3.** at my local store as they were switching to a different size set.

Maybe we can something together then get a Mod or the OP to edit the first post?

That way we can say read the first post instead of read the thread.

That would be just as good just some where to reference instead of digging through 250 plus pages to find it.

Or just a sticky talking about how to find "deals" at HD.

A lot of it comes down to learning how to spot the stuff yourself.

Dusty items that there are one or two of.
The same item with an older box and/or different packaging.
Items that you havent seen at your HD before, now all of a sudden they have 1 or 2 of.
etc

A lot of this is just knowing your HD store. Which means you get to seem like a weirdo walking the store 2 or 3 times a week, but if its a deal you are after, sometimes its worth it

(I honestly go to my HD and Lowes stores just to get out of my work location during my lunch hour)

I havent bragged and from reading the posts it seems like everything has been covered. I actually learned everything I know from HomeDepotRob. It takes time but the deals are out there. I can find a penny item at a home depot store 90% of the time. Just keep track of the clearance items that end with 3 cents. It will drop to a penny.

Actually I work at the depot. When it ends in .00 the next discount is to .01 when that happens it gets thrown out. Foolish I know but they throw out a lot. If it is still on the floor when it drops to .01 you are able to buy it but at my store that's not to often.

That's what I'm saying yes. If it has a yellow tag and ends in.00 the next step is a penny. Believe me it makes me sick what they throw out. That's the depot. Stupid!! What is funny is the garbage guys go nuts on who gets to pick up the trash
