What I got today....

http://www.homedepot.com/p/Senco-Fr...-Paper-Taped-Framing-Nailer-4H0101N/205446977

Had like a fifteen minute conversation with an old guy working at Home Depot. I believe the badge on his shirt said he had been there 22 years but I could be wrong.

I told him I was looking for two of the hitachi nailers that were both showing 2 in stock but I couldn't find them. He told me that if anything was on clearance then it would be on the rack and no where else. I thought this was quite funny since he had just climbed the ladder to retrieve two clearance items for me. He also told me that if anyone sold a penny item to a customer they could get fired! I'm not sure if he is just misinformed or trying to be sneaky and keep things for himself.

can't fire a self checkout machine. lol

I had a conversation with a lady employee today as well when I was getting the vacuum pulled down. She helped us through a cluster fock screw-up on some countertops a couple years ago and I always speak to her when I'm near her section.

I mentioned the penny deals and she said that what mgmt would do is say to the customer they can't sell it for that but would honor the last discounted price. She said that was BS as a quick call to corporate would equal the customer getting the item for a penny and the store getting their @ss chewed out for crappy inventory controls.

She said very very few customers would ever think to challenge mgmt and call corporate so it happens all the time at the last discounted price.

Where the better situation for everyone would be to sell the sucker for a penny and not run the risk of getting chewed out by corporate.

She also mentioned that policy (maybe just their store) was that employess couldn't purchase an item at clearence price for at least 24 hours. If the item was still there 24 hours after the most recent clearence price then it's fair game...maybe that's why this stuff is always hidden I said...she winked!

I was out in the garden center last night and my local store had about 10 of the Milwaukee bottom chests stored high above the rock still in boxes, still on pallets. None on display inside. A check of the website for my store doesn't show it as available in store.

Exactly. The stuff ends up sitting in the employee break room or in an employee locker for 24 hours, then they take it home. Instead of having a 24-hour limit, they need to have a no purchase by employees policy to stop people from ferreting away the merchandise.

Or just do what menards does -- fire them. :shocking:

I didn't see any of the tops, but they may have been stashed somewhere else. My store is in Louisville, KY - Westport Rd.

Just scored my first clearance deal. There were about a dozen of these sitting at $42.06 for the last couple months, as late as last Sunday. I stopped today and they were all gone except one that had slid behind the rack. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1437006955.394919.jpg
They have a few 24" laser levels that just dropped to **.06, so I'll be watching those.

Question about the inventory shown on the in store Price Check app. Does the inventory shown at other stores include clearance items, or do I have to go to those physical stores to check inventory? I know the clearance prices shown are only for the store you are in but I wasn't sure about inventory.

Inventory is inventory. You can get nearby store inventory at other stores from your stores computer, but you can't get nearby store pricing.

Good day at the Depot! Walked in and went straight to the computer. After about 5 mins I was ready to roll. Got a 52'' hardwood top tool box with LED drawers for $83.03(044-933) and a Bostitch finish nailer (049-715) for $48!

Tool box was way up on the top shelf in overhead and the employees got it down for me and even drove it on the pick lift outside and put it right in the back of my truck. All the employees couldnt believe the deal on the tool box. Now my only problem is to find a place to put it!

yes i definitely noticed the system changes, as soon as the inventory is 0 it goes to inactive penny status. oh well i guess too many return rebuys

This doesn't match my experience. Some stores show 0 and full price. Others show 0 and the clearance price ($25 or $30 depending on the item).

I am stalking some of the Ridgid 18v stuff and keep checking inventory/prices in my local stores. Haven't gotten anything yet, but there is a chance as some stores still show inventory.

I haven't read through this whole thread, but regarding accessing the computers in the store I have some advice. I used to be a vendor for Home Depot and Lowes. We used the computers to check how our products was moving at a store level. We also check how our competitors were doing, even though they didn't want us to the stores didn't care what we did. HD has a vendor password and login that never changes, but Lowes changes theirs everyday. If you act like your a vendor and pick a product to rep they won't think to question you or most of the time even bother you at all. In 8 years of using their computers I had one store manager ask me what I was doing.

I explained that previously. Perhaps you missed it?
Well. My experiences are like his and I read everything. Our stores must be different.

I bought the last of things at stores and zeroed out the computer and the sku has been active for weeks. I've seen negative inventory for weeks. I've seen one in inventory on a clearance item, seen it bought and inventory zeroed then later more inventory back at the clearance. Can't remember what all I've seen.

I like seeing people post honest deals on closeouts they find hidden as forgotten inventory. I don't like people trying to swap inventory and get shady trying to save a buck. Etc etc.

The last thing I want is home depot switching things up and trying to cut out all clearance items and finding another way to get rid of them. We just need to be nice and find what we see in a store.

That's all.

Here are my scores, not bad for the other side of the border, we never get penny deals (maybe because the penny was phased out)...Paslode 18GA cordless for $99.96 plus tax each.

This has probably been answered before but I'll ask again. Does the computer show the clearance price?

I asked them for a letter and they told me they didn't have anything like that. They just told me to call customer care in the future again. In my case I called customer care and they called the manager of the store where I was accosted. I think if you call customer care and explain what "The witch" has been doing they'll call her and have a chat. HD corporate seems to take it seriously and advocate for the customer.

Just look mean as hell. That's what I do when I see someone about to approach me. They have never once told me to get off of the computer. A couple of times they've asked if they could help me. I very sternly let them know I am doing just fine, but if I have a problem they'll be the first to know. They always leave me alone after that. Of course, I don't look like the type of guy people want to F with, (as I've been told many times) so that helps.
On a side note, the cute girls in the store get a nice smile and a little small talk which always works in my favor :) For example, I chatted with the cute girl in hardware the other night for about 45 minutes after she told me I couldn't buy anything marked DNI. By the end of the night, I got the DNI item that was still in it's package for the last closeout price. I also walked out with every single empty power tool case in the store. They were all missing their hand tool, but all had every accessory, package of nails/staples/etc.
It's all about charisma in the hard to deal with stores.

Regarding those Red Milwaukee top chests -- you may not want them because there are no matching bottoms available.

I remember hearing something about stock being a problem, which is why HD was selling them online only. I checked the Milwaukee site, and it was evident that it is just not possible to buy the bottom half of this kit by itself. Not anywhere. Milwaukeetool.com says that you can buy the top case by itself, but only at HD; you can buy the bottom case, but only at HD, and if and only if you buy the top/bottom combination; you can not buy the bottom half anywhere. Period. Not through milwaukeetool.com and not through home depot, because Milwaukee doesn't even have them.

From Milwaukee's own site: http://www.milwaukeetool.com/hand-tools/storage/48-22-8520

attachment.php

Click on the red "Shop Online" button to find an online seller and this is what you get:

attachment.php

So I called Milwaukee. They can't get the bottom chest, it's not available. Some sort of supplier problem. They have some top/bottom combos, and they have some tops only. You have to buy them online, and milwaukeetool.com's Buy-It buttons transfer you directly to homedepot.com. They said that they have more tops than bottoms and they don't have any insight on when (if ever) they might get bottoms.

Me? I really want the bottom case, and I could take or leave the top case, because I need drawers. The bottom case gives you drawers. The top case takes up a lot of space without giving you many drawers. Based on lack of availability, there won't ever be any blowouts on the bottom cases, but the availability mismatch means that the extra top cases have been discounted to $199 at some stores because there aren't ever going to be any matching bottoms to stack them on.

If you can use the top case on a shelf or a table, and you don't need or want the bottom case to stack it on, then the $199 price might appeal to you if your store has it in stock. All the Chicago stores I've checked don't have any, the SKU is inactive. Looks like another deal that just isn't all I had hoped for.

There's one of those bottoms sitting in my store right now. I believe it's marked 199.

Possibly. I'd need a part number, though. If I don't have one, I can always go back and check to see what I've missed. I'm actually thinking about taking another trip back to the 4 stores I was at and trying the same thing. Cases may not be worth a ton, but I bet there's all kinds of people missing the accessories inside!

Ugh...Must not be in the midwest...I just scanned one of those 2 days ago and it was full price here in the US!
I'm in thunder bay, Ontario. I grabbed one unit and the model on the box is 502000 which came up as cleara cebprice. went back and notice a stack of 4 more up high on the shelves which I got a guy to pull down. Ended up scanning at full price and the model on the box was 501000.

These units are also reporting as $99.96 on the website (home Depot canada)

Not sure about in the US but I did see a guy a few pages back grab one and it was $68usd so they might be working it's way to clearance down your way.

I'd be interested to hear if there are SKU in the computer for the bottoms. In my area the computer has SKU for the top, for the top/bottom package, but not for the bottom. Maybe some regions got the bottoms but not mine? If anyone can find an SKU for bottom only I'd like to know what it is.

http://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwauke...teel-Storage-Cabinet-Red-48-22-8520/205807921

Model:48-22-8520
Internet/Catalog:205807921
Store SKU:1001243467

Edit:
eh it only shows if you search it from google, then change the HTTP to M for the mobile site.

501000 and 502000 look almost the same
502000 is the NEWER model but reviews say people like the older model 501000 better

If you're not intending to keep an eye out for the item's price to change, then it's probably a good idea to at least tell everyone the SKU. ;)

I think most of the people who want an item but aren't willing to make trips to the stores and watch the prices end up having to buy things with a markup on CL or ebay.

This is the item: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Makita-18-Volt-LXT-Lithium-Ion-4-0-Ah-Battery-BL1840/205410442

Also the notion I don't plan on keeping an eye on it just because I gave everyone a heads up (and would like a heads up in case someone notices it drop before I do) is pretty ridiculous, I have more posts in the Hot Deals section than you under your entire account.

But seriously -- no offense intended. I had edited out that snide little quip right after I posted it, but it looks like you captured it during my edit. Sorry about that. No offense intended, just a wisecrack that I probably shouldn't have made.

I was primed to make that wisecrack because this afternoon I got harassed by PM from someone who hasn't even been participating in this thread, but asked for me to give him one of my acquisitions for nothing. You obviously know how much legwork can go into finding deals, so you know most of us aren't inclined to give away our acquisitions for nothing to someone who doesn't even try to participate in the hunt.

I don't usually scan for Makita but now that I know the SKU I'll add it to my scan list and I'll post here if I see it.

On the subject of asking for a heads-up:

I'm wondering if the DeWalt 20-v MAX tool-only drills have ever come up on clearance, like the 3/8" DCD780B (superceded by the DCD790B), or the 1/2" DCD985B (superceded by the DCD995B). I've searched the entire thread for them but haven't seen them.

I have the a complete 20v-MAX charger/batteries/sawzall kit already, and I'm looking for tool-only drill to go with it.

Does anyone know if the DCD780B or the DCD985B models have already clearanced?

It's funny you're looking for the drill...I bought one brand new a year ago, and have never once used it :) I'm still using all of my 18v stuff!
