Curious as to whether all stores will eventually clearance the 41" box.

No/Yes. I dont think they will anytime soon given many stores are still getting shipments of them and selling at retail. Of course at some point they will be closed out when a replacement becomes available. Based on my observations, tool chests seem to have a 3-5yr cycle.
Same for the Dewalt boxes, they were discounted in the stores that no longer carry them but stocking stores kept full retail.
I also dont understand stuff like the Husky boxes on close out. Since the item is not discontinued, Husky is not going to eat any of the cost, just Home Depot when they sell it at a fraction of retail. Why not ship the items to a stocking store? Why not start a gradual discount such as 20-30% off which in most cases would clear the inventory very quickly.
I also cant believe how sloppy inventory control is in such a company, in my adventures of searching for penny items/deals it has become common place for every store to only know location of items at ground level. If their computer shows 10, if 2 are on the shelf then the other 8 are in the twilight zone somewhere up top/stolen out the front or walked out the back. They do have specific spots but the night crews tend to just throw stuff up top in random places. That type of inventory control must also contribute to extreme inside theft by employees.
I recently searched for the 32 or 36 Husky tool box set that dropped to $100 for both. Several local stores showed inventory but searching the stores resulted in nothing. A few locations I was helped with dept managers, we searched every inch of the store including receiving/back room. How something that size walks out is beyond me. Inventory miss counts are possible I guess but 3 stores show 3-6 boxes with none in the store would suggest theft.
