Found an Echo PB-500T blower display model where the PB-580T display should have been. Took it to up to the cashier and gave her the SKU for the PB-500T and when she saw it come up for a penny she didn't want to sell it to me. She called an associate from Garden who wanted to use a different SKU from a random (non-backpack) blower model and charge me the full $149 price of that blower. That's when I requested the mgr and he made up some bs about it not being a working model, etc. so I called Customer Care and put the rep on speakerphone. The rep explained the penny item policy to the mgr (customer is allowed to buy it for a penny) but he kept trying to make excuses to not sell it so the rep put me on hold and proceeded to call the store mgr who never answered the phone but walked over to the checkout area. Even after being told the corporate policy by the rep, the store mgr wanted to sell it for the last clearance price until finally relenting and said I could just have it for free. When hearing this the customer care rep told him no, that he had to sell it to me for the penny price and couldn't just give it away. This was awesome as he was trying to hide it by giving it away but the customer care rep schooled him big time and said she was going to email that entire store's mgmt team on the company policy. To add to the awesomeness of the situation, as I was leaving I found a penny in the parking lot laying right next to my truck so I got reimbursed for my cost.
