I found one of the Delta shower faucets I've been hunting down at the $63 range. They had stacked the clearance tags on top of each other which isn't unusual but just out of curiosity I peeled them off and lined them up to see if anything could be deduced from seeing all the clearance tags. One thing I found interesting was the date on the clearance tags stayed the same across time. I was under the impression that they changed based on when it dropped or was printed. Secondly, there were three price drops that ended with "00" before the "06" and the "03".

Are these any good? A store near me has 5 or 6 of these for 63.03 price.

My area had all those same prices as well as a $199 tag before going down to $187

Long exchange with employees over penny paint brushes:

After three years finally painting the inside of my house. We have lived with the previous owners paint job through the years due to time, money, and the renovations. We figured why paint when half of it was getting gutted anyway.

Did my usual tool check and figured what the heck I could use another brush or two. Found a few on penny and low and behold ~15 in stock. Walk over the shelf and there they are just our of my reach. See the customer yellow ladder and ask an employee to use it. Says sure and I wheel it over. Another employee from behind the paint counter walk over and asks if I need help. Said I just need those two boxes as I'd like a few brushes out of them. He insists he gets them and I let him. Grab four of each of the two brushes I wanted say thanks, grab the rollers I was there for and go to self checkout. Woman there is chatty with 2-3 other employees and I get 4 of the brushes rung up and the guy who helped get the brushes grabs the four I was scanning next and the four in the bag and says I can't have them. Which immediately got the self checkout woman's attention, she comes over see's penny status and says nope. You can pay last clearance price. They come back with 5.96 and 6.96. Nope don't need them that bad, and politely say no thanks, could you clear them out of the order so I can just buy my rollers. I've worked retail and know it can be hard with A$$ customers so I was very cordial and polite. The paint counter gentleman give a strut and glance at me like he won, and it triggered something in me.

Bought my rollers walked over to customer service and spoke the lady behind the counter. She said nope store policy I wouldn't have sold them to you either. I politely and truthfully state I made purchases from this store and other local stores for penny items. Some rung through by employees and others by self checkout. She again says nope with a get out of here face that upset me more. I can't express how rude they were for how polite I was being. So I asked to speak to a manager so they can explain the policy to me when I have purchased penny items before. She pages three times over 5 minutes and gets an assistant store manager on the phone. There is some back and forth and she hangs up. She then proceeds to yell to the paint counter guy to just give me the brushes I wanted for free. SCORE!! **** it. I walk over with the biggest grin on my face and the distaste he had for me was palpable. The Behr paint rep was there and asked how I managed to pull that off and I politely explained to him how it worked. His first response was the paint counter clerk probably wanted them for himself. Proceeded to have a laugh. To add insult to injury I gave the paint counter clerk sku number for two other brushes which showed inventory (i didn't tell him I couldn't find them though.) So here's to hoping he wastes the rest of his shift looking for something that probably doesn't exist.

No receipt because free but pic.

Nice. Kind of how I feel in regards to my story from yesterday.

In a local store yesterday, I spot a unicorn for this area. One of the Homelite pressure washers just got back from getting reconditioned. I couldn't believe it when I spotted it yesterday while walking the outdoor power aisles (I have been looking for one of these for probably 2 months at all my local stores since I originally posted the deal). Wheeled it over to the register and asked the cashier to speak to a manager since the generic recon SKU they were trying to sell it under was $230 instead of $29 for the actual product SKU. So she calls over the lawn and garden department head who walks over with an MOD. They both say, oh, this is the one that just came out of receiving. Neither of them are willing to budge and insist on only selling it for the tagged price even though I explain that is more than for a new one. He says "I won't sell it for that price" ($29), so I say "well, you won't sell it for that price either" pointing to the $230 tag. MOD looks up the SKU in his handheld and says but look, "there are none in the district". I try to explain to him that I had no issues a month or so ago buying the Echo chainsaw at this very store to which they both reply that the guy should not have marked it down. They say because it is reconditioned, it doesn't have to follow the normal pricing (which based on what others have said on here I believe to be true, similar to display models) and had it been $29 when they sent it to get fixed, they would have scrapped it. Basically not wanting to sell it because they had much more than $29 into it I am sure in getting it fixed. So I leave on my way with no washer. MOD Paul was a complete a$$ and had a terrible "don't want to deal with you" attitude.

Fast forward to later that afternoon, I go back to the store hoping for a shift change in personnel in an attempt to try again. I am able to speak to the guy who marked down an Echo chainsaw for me with the same issue (recon tag of $180, actual SKU price of $65). He calls over the L & G department head again (at this point I have about given up since I saw it was the same guy I already talked to that morning). I just walk away and call HD corporate. Explain to the lady what is going on and that they are selling something under a generic SKU (not mentioning it is a reconditioned unit) and that the actual product SKU is much cheaper, same model etc. She puts me on hold and calls the store. Speaks to the MOD (Paul, still the same guy as this morning...) who now says "it's not his call" and that the actual manager needs to decide. I guess he sings a different tune when he is talking to corporate vs. some peon customer. Corporate lady comes back stating this and proceeds to submit a ticket for me which goes straight to the store manager (real manager, not MOD) and that I will hear back by Tuesday. So I leave again not expecting much to come of this, assuming they would all play the "recon" card.

I barely have time to step in the door of the house (20 min drive back from the store) that my phone rings and its the HD corporate lady. She says "Paul was able to talk to the manager and they are going to proceed with selling it for $29". Great I say, I will pick it up tomorrow.

Now I don't know if Paul actually talked to the manager or just said that because he didn't want to look bad in front of him because of an obvious pricing issue I brought to their attention or what but I don't care!

It's supposed to be behind the service desk with my name on it.

EDIT, got a call from the store manager this morning and he confirmed what the corporate lady said in that they "sorted out the pricing confusion" and that the pressure washer is ready for me to pick up behind the service counter with my name on it :bounce:

There are so many variables when trying to get these recon/display models IMO. I think it all boils down to whether the manager wants to deal or not.

I honestly think it all depends on MOD. Backpack blower was a recon model, sale cashier had no problem selling it to me. She even told me I could return it if it doesn't work without any issues.

Still waiting for lookout signs and our pictures to be posted at the registers

Saw your picture at the Rhode Island store (Washington, DC) today. Not a bad likeness, and there was some messaged scribbled about you trying to get a bunch of HDMI cables through the SCO........

Seems that the cameras at the SCO take pictures/video of each transaction, so I am sure that HD could compile a rogues gallery of those Penny Pinchers who go in and out of their stores making penny purchases if they wanted too. So the next time you are making a score make sure that you give them your biggest and best smiles as you feed your pennies into the coin slot......

Ha! Home depot should be on the look out to hire these people and put them to work in inventory mgmt and loss prevention! Like the US gov't hiring hackers, if you can't beat em, hire em.

This must have been a display they lost the parts to. The work order was all for misc accessories and nozzles.

I guess once you get corporate involved. Attitude gets changed.

I think so.

Husky 48" floor cabinet - sku 236968 regularly 299 is 95.03 local to me.

Also husky 48" wall cabinet - sku 236710 regularly 196 is 45.03. I've been watching this and picked up two to complete my wall cabinets in the garage.

You guys go way to far trying to get a price changed. I'd never do it. If its labeled or it rings up cheap....fair game. I don't have the time or the patience to deal with it nor do I think it's right

Well an old employee told me a story about someone throwing a lot of nailers over the garden center fence.

I saw a couple of people throwing tool kits over the fence when I was backing in to the dock. They took off and went to the store across town and tried the same thing.

It was on a chain saw. How the heck would someone steal that? Its the first time I saw a red sticker on this saw

I saw 2 guys running, pushing a cart full of dewalt boxes a few months ago at Lowes as I was walking up to the entrance.

You must make a lot of money if an hour (max) of your time is worth $200-$300.

I got a laugh out of a few of these posts. I worked at Home Depot for a couple of years while I was in college and the actual corporate policy was that none of the department employees were allowed to say anything, confront, or try to stop anyone from stealing. We had to report it to the manager, assistant manager or loss prevention (we shared one loss prevention person with 3 stores in the region) and then they had to witness the person stealing.

It's a terrible policy, but I understand them trying to avoid the liablity. But I can recall a few times where two people would walk in, grab 2 DeWalt drill sets each and walk right out, buzzers going off and all.

As far as the penny deals, I managed to score a $220 shower head for .01 one time.

Never worked in HD, but worked in clothing retail. It was 3 witnesses for us, we weren't allowed to confront them, but had to tell management or loss prevention. I knew most of the thiefs, but there wasn't anything I could do at the time except tell them enjoy the merchandise. Lol

I found a floor display of 1/2" x 100' with that SKU, and an overhead box. But the overhead box only contained 1/2" x 100'... couldn't find any 3/8" x 50'.

They were in the same box. One side of the box was the 100' rolls, and the other side was the 50'. And my bad, it is 1/2, not 3/8.

Picked up a Milwaukee Fuel Hammer drill kit for $162. Was $299, Clearance sticker said $210, price checked $180, less 10%.

550x99.jpeg.ecb778946e684c57ab9f35931f0af01f.large

Came with a charger, 2 4.0ah batteries, handle, and the case. The two pack of batteries alone would've been either $99 or $129.

Slowly but surely building my M18 set. Already had a fuel impact kit, grinder, and oscillating tool from the summer clearance.

Has anyone else noticed that the new lcd camera boxes that beep when you walk by now show a picture in picture view of someone watching all the camera feeds?
