Scored 4 more schlage oval/aged bronze bedroom door knobs (.01) today Thanks Spn..........the rest of them I got (over the past few weeks) were at the .03 level (from $8-$38). Got about 30 levers/knobs/handle sets in total for our renovation project.

I bought silver ones when they were putting them out for 8.03, we did almost every door in our house but still need a few sets and can't seem to find any. Eventually we will. They're actually pretty good sets, I put baldwins in the front and back door and their almost the same feel.

I've finally figured it out.. There is an employee that's buying all the penny deals locally and posting them on craigslist right away. I've been seeing the stuff coming up on craigslist then a day or two later I see something mentioned on here about the same items. they are getting EVERYTHING.

Found 16 of the Schlage door knobs at one of my local stores. SCO cashier cancelled my transaction halfway through and said they couldn't sell them because they were on 'call-back'. Asked her to call the MOD who came over and simply said I could have them all for free. The cashier was not happy at all. :willy_nil

Id love to meet another local GJ'r I don't really want in on all the deals but there are one or two things I would have really liked to got a bargain on :)

Problem is many buy to resell. You may not get the bargain you hope for

well he trusted me so I took the card used it, came out and paid him cash. I wouldn't buy a gift card for half price if I had to pay for it right away.

my other concern is - what if I need to return the merchandise... can I have issues getting gift card money back?

if you do this and the card says 'store credit' do NOT return a single thing from that receipt. i even recommend only paying anonymously in store only. cover remaining balance with cash. you WILL be banned from future returns if the system brands you.
hd very stringent and very creative in branding ppl as 'return problem' ppl.

ps guy was probably just hard up for cash. they actively try to shaft some ppl by refusing returns for anything but store credit. some ppl not savy enough with their words to effectively make counter points and end up standing outside talking to... you

and ps.s: I wouldnt hand over cash until my purchase was complete... i would imagine it would be easy to scam the buyer (you) by writing down the card numbers and making a purchase online before the buyer (you) make it to the register for checkout

Re: Home Depot Clearance Thread 2015

that's why I paid the rest in cash today. I don't intend to return this merchandise but I would like to see if I can adjust the price if the price drops. so I guess return/rebuy my not be an option.

dont try to adjust. that is how they got me. it was my store credit card, registered to my name when i lost a large receipt and needed to return. im a slickdealer like everyone else here and did multiple PMs on rinky dink clearance **** for about 9 months WITH RECEIPTS and they still banned me from returning anything... bc apparently they were doing 'return/rebuy' when they did the price adjusts, and since the store credit card was tagged to me it nailed my profile and now i am dirt in their system.

Yes, it's a very common theft scheme. Here's how it works in its most basic form:

Shithead goes to store with liberal return policy (like Home Depot and Lowe's, which don't require receipts).
Shithead steals some merchandise from that store.
Shithead goes back to the store with said merchandise and claims he paid cash for it and he wants to return it. The store will not give him cash because he has know receipt and while they can't prove it they know what he is up to, so they give him a gift card.
Shithead then goes into the parking lot, where he knows he will find many potential buyers, and sells this gift card at a discounted price.
Shithead then uses the money to go buy crack or heroin or meth or whatever poison he prefers.

There are many different variants on the scheme, but that's the basic version of it.

youre clueless. get some info from somewhere other than mass media propaganda network... those same major news networks trying to discourage ppl from returns by calling it a 'theft ring' would call this thread a 'theft ring' too... 'one sick 'shithead' man even bragged about using his kid to distract the clerk for his evil habit'... etc. will be the headline...

if you dont think hd and others are shafting ppl on basic and legal returns by violating their own policies look no further than this thread.. where penny deals are what 50-50 at best? and many ppl treated like sht and blackballed for trying to get a penny deal thats marked a penny and within hd policy?? what makes you think legal returns are any diff?

Not all stores have this on clearance. Grabbed one for my dad since he has the PAS Echo trimmer.

That 16/3 is only good for 10A since it is 100ft, but not bad for the blower

At $4 it might be worth it for scrapping. Perfect for Xmas lights and maybe temp lighting in a shed or something.

That is so stupid to throw them away.

They legally can't, their contract requires them to discard them to receive credit for the unsold items.

It's not really "stupid", it's financially wise - the other alternative is to send them back, but spending $1 sending back an item with a 20 cent cost does not make sense.

Would an electric start on a snowblower draw more than 10 amps? That's really the only thing I would use this for
You should be good. Most snow blower starters I have seen come with 16GA. You should be good.

Local HD has 2 of the carts at $39.

Thought I had penny Schlage lock, but it rang up "see attendant", after a few minutes she came back and said it's $30 that there was a problem with the SKU. I said there was no problem with the SKU, there was a problem with your inventory. Didn't have the time to argue so I just walked away after that. The box had been opened and taped so it may not have even all been there....

Oh well.

Had my first Penny Confrontation today! Since the only penny deal I can seem to find are the Ridgid saw blades, I hit up a few stores today that I had not been to. The last HD I hit, I found (6) of the 8" blades. I went up to self-checkout and got about 3 of them rang up when I noticed one of them had a darn security deal on it. The register alerted the cashier and she came over and the conversation went like this:

Cashier: there is something wrong as those are ringing up as a penny.

Me: yep, can you go ahead and take the security tag of this one? None of the others have one.

Cashier: Where did you find these at?

Me: On the shelf with ALL the other tile blades. Where else would I find them?

Cashier: I'm going to have to call my manager and see what she wants me to do.

Cashier calls the manager and gives here the SKU and tells her I found them on the shelf. She then writes down $5. I'm thinking, $5 for all of them, I'll pay that.

Cashier: the manager said if you want them, they are $5 each.

Me: You're going to have to have the manager come down here because I got these off the shelf and if they are ringing up $.01, they are $.01.

Cashier: Let me call the manager again

She calls the manager back and says the customer wants to speak with you. About 30 seconds later, she hangs up.

Cashier (pissed off): the manager said you can go ahead and take them for the $.01 price

As I close out the sale, the cashier is already walking down the Tile aisle to make sure there are no more. (there aren't! :D)
