Keep an eye on this guys.

I get the feeling that a lot of people have been lurking on this thread like I've been. I randomly came across it maybe 10 days ago searching for miter saw sales and I've been hooked ever since. I keep finding myself at HD during lunch but not having much luck so far. I finally got up the courage to try and 'help myself' to a computer that was facing out at the Pro Desk but I was immediately greeted by an employee who insisted on helping me (that was his response to me asking if I could use the computer).

Really appreciate all the info and everyone sharing what they find. Seems like the two stores I frequent are about the last to put things on clearance (or perhaps they're slow to mark them as such).

Wanted to reply to this post to ask what area you saw this saw on-sale? I'm near Syracuse, NY. That's the saw I really want but $600 was more than I'm willing to spend one one. If be thrilled to get it at that price though.

I think they were looking for penny dealers
I tell this, you won't find much on this store. This isn't a full store. Used to shop on this store all the time. Middle of NYC with very limited space.

Man. The local home depot has 2 computers that anyone can use but I think it's because they're so good at pulling stuff off the floor. All I could find was the husky stackable caddy. Anyone know if this is a deal? uploadfromtaptalk1454555534328.jpg

That 1/2" impact wrench there is a real good one, and the 1/4" impact driver is too. I'd be a buyer of the 1/2 impact wrench if anyone gets these and wants to sell me one alone. - Paul

just an fyi to the ppl talking about return and rebuy: if they want to swipe your id dont do it. they only let you return so much stuff and then you will get hit with a thing that says youre banned from returning things.

that is related to returns involving no receipts or when part of the purchase was paid with GC/store credit.

their system goes through a company called The Retail Equation, which merges data from purchases from their other partners as well, such as Best Buy.

Has anyone got the managers to ever match of the other stores clearance price before? I tried asking twice over the phone but was told they don't but maybe if i asked in person? Would be easier then doing a return and rebuy!

Never seen or heard of it happening.

You could always be the first, but highly unlikely.
Most stores have a policy of not matching clearance prices.

I had them price match a ridgid cordless vacuum for me. It helped that I had a receipt from a neighboring store at the clearance price

Definitely not good odds. I lucked out recently. MOD at one store was above and beyond nice. I had receipt from another store clearance price 1/2 hr prior. They honored it but told me they typically do not.

If a store price matches clearance I suggest filling out the survey on the receipt. The more positive feedback the better. Maybe they change policy based on such positive customer experience lol

right, but they often ask for id even with receipt. a handful of yrs ago they were supposed to allow return rebuy and pricematch, but would still deny it. i had a manager who would allow me to return-rebuy/pm after their employees kept denying me, which was great, until i was unexpectedly banned from returns... i thought she was being nice, but that was really not the case bc she did not inform me that i was basically never going to be able to return things ever again. the system goes by total # of returns in at least one determination of whether or not to ban you, i know this bc i was banned once, and then re-banned over like 5 more receipted-returns under $15 < where i saved a net of like a measly $2 >... i was under the impression that a receipted return with id swipe was a good thing, but it is not. any return that they can pin to your 'profile' is used to degrade your status. i would imagine that they also tie your cc to your id if given the opportunity ie. ask for your id on a receipted return where you used a cc, then further count even your receipted returns where you used that particular cc despite lack of an id scan....

Sounds like you returned a ton of stuff and maybe you deserved to get banned

You are talking about "5 more returns" like it is nothing. I am not sure I have returned 5 things at HD in my lifetime...

If I buy it I need it. Unless it's a penny item of course.

It also includes returns over a certain dollar threshold (not sure how much that is, but I've had it happen on a few occasions where the purchase was 100% on my credit card).

The credit card isn't tied to your ID when they put you on the ban list, but if you are on the ban list and call to see about getting off, they are able to look into it and see the amount of returns you made (even the ones on your CC). So they can see them, but when the ID isn't required, it doesn't count against you.

I was banned from returns early last year due to the fact I was not aware of how the system worked. I had a large amount of gift cards I made purchases with, returned different items that didn't work for my work flow or if I didn't like the feel of the tool (unused, I didn't use the tools then just return them). I also bought a bunch of tough boxes to see about getting organized, loaded them up to see how my storage solution worked. I didn't like how heavy they were once loaded or the size so I returned them. All of this was returns from gift cards with a few lost receipt items in there. Then boom, banned from returns. I was never informed this would ban me. Now, everything is purchased on the CC if I feel there is any chance it could be returned.

I was banned on my 2nd or 3rd return.

I bought downspout elbows, wasn't sure which ones I needed so I bought a few different kinds. Total was around 12 bucks. Paid with a credit card and could not return the ones I didn't need.

However one of my prior returns didn't have receipt and all three or four returns were done within 2-3 days.

So I'm not sure exactly what triggered it - return without a receipt or frequency of returns.

youre such a good little hd customer bubbie.. congrats on never measuring wrong or changing plans or finding a better deal elsewhere or realizing you got the wrong color.

buy a pair of gloves for $10. wear them for a week, decide you like them.
venture into another hd to buy another pair and see the same gloves are now $7.50... ask for pm. deny. buy 2 at 7.50, return one pair for $10.
go to hd a week later, same gloves now marked down to $5.00 ask for pm. deny, but offered to return-rebuy by cs.
go to hd a month later, gloves are now $2.5. ask for pm. 'pm' accepted, but cs employee does a return-rebuy in the system...

the above just netted 3 'returns' in the hd system for one product if they swiped id or otherwise tied the purchase to you. do that again and you will likely be unceremoniously banned without warning on return attempt #6 for approx 1 yr.

its good info to know, esp since someone asked. i wouldnt have wasted my return-rebuys on $2.5 gloves thats for sure, and i hope others read this and learn from it

Im thinking its returns w/o receipt that couldn't be looked up on a credit card.

Ive done plenty of returns like your elbows.....I hate getting 75% into a project and not having enough/the right parts, so Ill buy multiples and various parts just to be sure.

Whatever I dont use gets returned and 99% of the time I wont have the physical receipt, but I always pay with a credit card so the returns cashier can find the purchase.

Ive never been banned from returns and have done PLENTY of them with just looking up the purchase on the card.

I do my best

LOL though at returning/rebuying a pair of gloves to save a couple bucks...

In all seriousness though, I was kind of being facetious before.

IMO unless its a price difference of $20 or more, the attempt at a return/rebuy is hardly worth it. Then when things like this happen, it makes it even less worth it...

The issue is, stores have had such relaxed policies in the past that it has now come back to bite them. People buying a tool knowing they only needed it for that one job, then returning it etc. I swear at one point, you could have returned an empty tube of caulking at HD and they would have taken it back if you told them it sucked.

There should be no penalty for returning something you bought too much of or something you bought in anticipation of needing.

As mentioned, I think this issue comes up when its returns for GC or no receipt items. I have never heard of CC returns or returns with receipts causing any issues unless it was a habitual problem.

Picked up a few gallons to repaint my basement office. Rustoleum clear coat still 20.00 in my area, but will pick a few when price drops. Plenty of clear coat available. Behr rep told me they should be going down soon. New product coming real soon. Nextgrill is replacing Brinkmann grills.

How are the Special Buy Dewalt sliding miter & table saws looking on price right now? Last year I made out like a bandit, but the seem to be non-existent around me already this year.

Dont know about the miter saw but the table saw is down to 229 in most of my area stores.

They dont have many left, not nearly as many as last year.

One store showed 3 of the table saws but I haven't looked for them yet.

What is the model of the miter saw?

Same here on the table saws. I saw a couple at one store the other day. Unless they have the wrong tag where they're at the miter saws I've seen have been $299 IIRC.
