It's gotta be that two year old kid. That's the secret. It is disarming. What is an HD employee going to say to a dad carrying a two year old infant around? SPN1025 always, ALWAYS carts his kid with him when he scores his penny deals.

Is there a place where you can rent an infant for an afternoon?

There are quite a few of those places, but the authorities tend to frown upon that kinda thing. :lol_hitti

It was pretty painless actually. Manager says "well, you saved us from having to throw them in the dumpster "

Lowes does something odd too, but not 1 penny. Their stuff can drop in price for months, and if it still doesn't sell (I'm guessing the day after an inventory audit for taxes) it goes right back to full price.

Lowes clearance items revert to full price when the last one is sold, so you are likely seeing OOS stores at full price.

I asked the local manager about stuff like that. They said they have been pulling stuff and sending it to the local Habitat for Humanity Restore place and taking the tax credit instead of putting them out for clearance. Other stuff that doesn't get sent there gets sold off to a liquidator for basically pennies on the pallet. Which explains why I could find anything like a penny deal or any real clearance item at the store. Also one of the cleanest and neatly stocked stores I've been to.

Although if I went to another HD up the road, usually the opposite is true with an entire section for clearance although picked over by the employees. Had one guy admit it to me and said if I was looking for a bargain, pick up one of the LED lights made for a ceiling can replacement as they were getting a new model in. Regular price was like $25 or so and I picked one up for $4.90. I asked him if they had any LEDs for a hanging shop light, he said they did but they went the first day they were set out.

Hit a few stores this morning real quick and came up empty handed. I did find (2) of the Schlage Model # F40 V MER 619 CEN and I went to the SCO and the damn things were completely out of their system and triggered the "see attendant" message. The clerk was confused and some old guy comes over and scans it and then ask me where I got them. I show him the empty slot where they were and he says, he can sell them to me at the price on the shelf. I tell the ***** that the price on the shelf is not even for the same product. He proceeds to go back to the computer and finds them on the HD.com site and says I can have them for the $38 price it shows. Told him forget it and left.

You're killin me spn! I bought both the wine and bev coolers @ 100.03 but had to jump through hoops to get them. Would've loved $50/each.

They reset the bev cooler here to $328. Wine cooler is non-existent.

It's like these here. They did a horrible job of making the UPC unusable. Scanned as pennies.

I wonder how a return would work with a generic sku. I mean, it's not really tied to anything.

Ive done it, but I had my receipt. They gave me no trouble.

It was an American Standard bathtub that hit a penny. Sold it to me for last clearance price under the generic SKU but alas the wife didnt like it.

Since they looked up the last clearance price in the computer when I purchased it, I figured worst case is they would have to do the same as I returned it (what are the chances the bathtub was exactly priced like something else) but they didnt even bother.

I just grabbed a Ryobi combo kit with a 1/2" impact, a 1/4" bit impact and two 18V lithium ion batteries for $79. Thought it was a decent price.

Isn't the Li model the newer one? Those are being clearanced out, too?

Dying over here for one. Just one. Haha
Nope. The xp is the newer one, li is on clearance (but they are both lithium ion)

I come to the conclusion that there arent any deals in MN and especially not penny deals. As soon as anything goes on clearance it gets moved to a big section at the front of the store. Most of it sells b4 u would even consider it a good deal. The few things left at .03 an .02 were just junk. There was a buncha floor epoxy for 10 to 20 bucks but I dont have any use for it and I cant imagine flipping it.

Three paslode finish nailers up on the shelf but still full price.

True, i can never find much in any stores in the twin cities the only good deal i got was the gladiator 52 in chest for $100 and that was just lucky timing because it was in the rafters and couldn't be seen.

Found 10 hanging planter POL 1 (S)Internet/Catalog: 204197234. Rang up a penny, the SCO lady said oh they are a penny I have to call a manager. The manager said I can't sell them to you for a penny, the last price was 8 dollars but I can sell them to you for 2 dollars each. I really did t need them, and the boxes were really beat to hell. If it were a penny then I would have placed them in my back yard and waited a year or two when I finish my fence. So I left them behind. No big deal didn't really need them that bad.

Spent my lunch yesterday driving to one of the farther hds to check if they had one of the paslode framing nailers. Last i checked it said they had -1 on hand. I wasnt expecting anything but to my surprise they had one that someone tagged with the wrong sku, it had the finish nailer sku on it but it rang up a penny no problem and they didn't even have a spider wrap on it.

Then after work i drove to another store that originally showed 5 on hand when they were 300.06 i waited until they were 100.03 and made the mistake of calling and putting 2 on hold to go pickup the next day. The next morning i called to just pay over the phone but by then someone either an employee or a customer swiped them out from under me. Went to find the other 3 and no one could find them. Yesterday though i found 1 new and 1 that was marked repaired. Walked both up to sco and scanned 1, the attendant said its your lucky day and let me have both for free. This is the only store ive found that just gives the penny item to you rather than selling it. Still never found the 3rd one but ended up a pretty good day.

Well might just be luck. I've had stores give me stuff, then get a different cashier at the same store say no. Good job on getting the deals

As I mentioned a few pages back, I've been following this thread for a few weeks and been finding myself making more & more pit stops at the HDs by house and work. I've mostly been hoping to find a few things on 06 or 03 clearance but between the complete lack of computers available to customers in-store my stores seeming to lag behind others with their markdowns and/or not tagging clearance items I'm not having much luck so far.

On that note (and pertaining to the quote above), I was hoping some of the experts in here could clarify one thing. Wehen something goes to 06 or 03 clearance, will that price be shown if you look it up on homedepot Com and have the given store selected? Sorry if that was mentioned in the initial posts on the 2015 thread or somewhere else - I k of I read that penny items won't show up but I can't remember if I read the same for clearance prior to that. Thanks!
