Second day in a row mailing stuff at FedEx. Shipping prices for some of this stuff is literally insane! You price it out online and it's ALWAYS more when you actually take it in.

Also, is the FedEx Office location going to charge you more than they do at the actual FedEx Shipping locations? I'm wondering how the price to ship a Paslode was almost the same price as shipping a Moen faucet.

Have you tried setting up an online account?

Ive never let FedEx pack and label my stuff, its ALWAYS cheaper to do it myself.

You can setup a free MyFedEx account which you can use to get detailed shipping quotes on an item (BEFORE you ship it), then just print out the label and package it. Sure you might need to get a box and some bubble wrap, but Im pretty sure that stuff is cheaper at HD than it is at FedEx!

I packed it myself and the boxes fit around the items perfectly (skin-tight fit with no need for peanuts/foam). Measured them and weighed them on my shipping scale to get the price online and the bastards at the FedEx Office location still charged me almost $8 more than it said it would be online.

What do they say when you ask? Why not just print the label at home?

I definitely WILL be printing them online now. :tantrum2:

Yeah definitely do.

The only caveat is to make sure you have residential address checked if you are shipping to a resi address....it adds a resi. surcharge but it should STILL beat the price of having FedEx do it for you in person.

Ive even used this before to have someone from a far away craigslist ship something to me! Pay for the label, "print" it to PDF, email the PDF and then all they need to do is pack it up and slap the label on.

I rarely use Fedex. Their super expensive compared to UPS or USPS. There's a feature on eBay to get reduced shipping, I forgot where I found that. USPS will send you boxes for free and UPS will send you some things free, they sent me 6000 self stick labels for free for my new thermal printer that's on its way. [emoji15]

Just be sure to get a digital scale, even the cheap ones are usually more accurate than your typical bath scale. And you can get the detached display, easy on the eyes.

Shipping surcharges to residences is bs

I hate all shippers. My business uses ups and they **** too

Get the address wrong by one digit or suite number and they charge you a 13.00 address correction fee.

They send you bills out of order so you might pay one late and get a fee.

They don't credit you if you print a label and don't ship and use it unless you void it they claim their system doesn't know you didn't ship it bs

Their fuel surcharge is a bs scam the way they do it

Snake are you getting prices through eBay for FedEx? they are not bad for me. I shipped a 68 pound 20 x 24 x 24 box from Miami to Seattle for 44 dollars with insurance and signature. shipped a garage door opener for 24 dollars with insurance and signature.

Not that bad :dunno:

I was getting prices via FedEx/UPS/USPS.com sites. I think it's just the fact that:

a) some of these boxes are large/odd shaped

and

b) they are going far away

I'll be sure to put a little more effort into getting an accurate shipping figure from here on out. ;)

It may be beneficial to "purchase" a shipping software suite if you ship a lot. Some of them are nice because they show you everything up front, integrate your scale and label printing. And keep track of everything.

Found this at the Sterling VA store for 25.03. They had about 5 more gray gloss and 7 of the tan ones.

Saw a couple of the smaller boxes also. They were in the back of the store near the spray paint.

Hope that helps someone.

If you're selling on eBay, you should use their shipping feature. On your sold items page, click the "print shipping label" button. BTW do this on the desktop site, not the app or mobile site.
You'll get anywhere from like 8 to 20% discount. You can compare the rates on there with USPS and Fedex.

A few years ago all of the shippers moved over to a shape based pricing model vs weight.

Your best bet, if you are a frequent Amazon-er, is to save whatever box Amazon ships your stuff in. Its no coincidence when you get tiny items in a box thats way too big....Amazon knows how to keep their costs down by using the right shape to fit in the truck. So let them do the work for you and you'll end up with fairly common size boxes that can maximize your shipping cost savings.

Back on track with the thread - has anyone actually USED the Rustoleum epoxy ? At 25.03 for the 2.5 car size I just couldnt pass it up. But I have a couple quesitons -

1. Is there a shelf date on it? The only gray one I found looked pretty dusty, as do the cans inside, although everything seems to be there and unused (minus the DVD and instructions)

2. Any tips on using this stuff over a previously painted surface (basement foundation floor) and where there is "patched" concrete (garage floor)?

Thanks.

Was in HD tonight, found a Bosch gl225 distance laser right on top of the other Bosch stuff. The clearance sticker said $119.00. I took it up to the sco to do a price check and rang up penny, I hit back and then scanned it regular and said see attendant, backed out again . I did scan the clearance sticker but what if I scan the original box bar code??
I will go back tomorrow once I figure I'm doing it right. Don't what to loose it. and also was the last clearance price $15.03??

Thanks

Thanks. I'll definitely try that route next time.

EDIT: Damn! I just check the pricing on the 2 faucets I mailed today and doing what you said would have saved me over $18! :Violent: Guess I'll know what to do next time. Thanks

Haven't been to an HD in 2 days and I'm having withdrawals. Gonna hit one tomorrow morning on the way to work and the Nutone is at the top of my list to price check.

Take your receipt to the store with a lower price and tell them the price dropped and you'd like to return/rebuy the item

1. Try and get a price adjustment once it drops at the store you are purchasing it at.

2. Wait for it to drop one more time.

3. Try a return/rebuy at cheaper store.

2 is out as I've already paid. Don't want to return and chance waiting.

For 1 - I'll have to wait and see if it drops at the store I bought it at. They wouldn't have any in stock, though - don't know if that matters or not.

Im doubting 3 would work as managers around here seem set on the fact that they will not match another stores clearance price, etc. as pricing is 'store specific'. I've always tried to get that done pre-purchase in the past - never post-purchase where I've already got the clearance item in hand. I'll have to try I guess.

No need to hit Back once it scans as a penny. There should be an "add to transaction" button on the screen.

Press that and then pay and run.

Either or....since its so low of a total ( :) ) I dont think HD card will prompt you to sign. BUT if you have a chipped card its going to slow you down and require you to slide it into the chip reader.

Using an actual penny might be your quickest bet if you arent sure about the card. I personally have an old-ish HD card with no chip so I just swipe it and finish checking out.

Fein Multimaster 350Q Start kit down to 100.00 at one of my local stores.

I purchased at 120.00, might try to get a price adjustment or hold out to see if it goes lower first.

Was at my local HD yesterday and found some $.01 stickers. Guy was looking around the store for the items. One was a 49 piece Milwaukee bit set.

I tried finding it, as he told me there were two in the store but I ran out of time.

I wouldn't do that too you..

Actually I wasnt worried about that...I was asking because I literally just got back from the Orange store :)

Got the last 2.5 car size of gray Rustoleum epoxy for 25.03 and a 3M face mask for 6.00 but thats about it.

Looking for those track lights listed earlier but they are still at full price around here.

I would love this stand too. I have been watching this one for awhile but unfortunately it has never dropped to this price yet in my area.

I need a Bosch miter saw zero gravity stand they are down to 180.00

I was able to pick one of these up tonight for $150. I saw it for the past few weeks around that $180 price. Went in tonight and saw it for $150 and I had to bite.
