your stores may pull penny items before you have a chance to buy them. When HD has their merchandising team in a store (my area at least) going through clearance, they will pull the penny items, throw them in a cart, and haul them to the back.

I saw this happen a few weeks ago, but managed to snag (or grab when he looked the other way) an old style apple charger for a penny for a family member in need. It ended up ringing up a penny without the SCO noticing.

My area stores have met team that work mon thru fri. They cant or will not catch it all.

So, I finally opened the box on that Powermate 3250 I was able to score for 99.00 and it turns out the damn thing was USED.... and it was REALLY USED. I pulled it out of the box and it had 180 hours on the meter. :dunno:

I took it back to the store that I bought it from and was preparing for a fight (bought in on 2/4), but they took it back w/o question.

Wonder if I will be banned from returns for this one. This is the first return to HD for me in YEARS.
why you didn't want to keep it ??
I had one with 75 hours had to change oil twice and since then it worked like new.

where are you located?

People ****. Sorry to hear that. Found a Paslode nailer a few weeks back and thought I scored - same thing. Looked like someone crapped in the case.

I think it's pathetic that i spend time and money looking for things I want/need and always feel like I have to open it to check it before I leave the store.

What bothers me even more is that someone else used that thing and returned it screwing over the next guy and probably did it stress-free, much less flak than some of us get for using computers or even glancing at an overhead bin lol.

The whole scenario kills me - I could go on all day, but I'll spare everyone haha.

I doubt you'd get banned if you had a receipt. If you didn't, then maybe. Someone probably bought that for a snow storm or whatever and took it back after they beat on it. Seems pretty typical for HD. I've bought just about everything from Home Depot, there's a high probability than anything was returned. You need to protect yourself by opening it up immediately, unfortunately, to make sure.

I've never had a problem returning just about anything with a receipt. It's when you try to pull something shady to see what happens, that's usually when you get banned. I'm still curious because there's no way to link what was bought to where it was returned when I got banned, which leads me to believe if an item you buy is a penny anywhere, you just get flagged. I'm still not sure if I'm flagged for everything or just that item. My investigation continues. [emoji879]

HD is delivering it to my house for $20. Have no idea what drivers intentions/capabilities are for moving it once he's here, but I thought that was pretty convenient.

Would've cost me $20 just to rent their van for 75 minutes.

Did you just ask them to deliver it? I ended up renting one of the flat beds but unloading it was a little trouble due to weight.

where are you located?

i have a 5500 watt that i have had for almost 10 years that doesn't have 180 hours on it. It has just over 100 hours on it.

Plus this one was missing screws that hold the outlets in the frame, the recoil was not recoiling and the recoil cord was beat.

The unit was beat up. not worth 100.00 to me.

I would venture to guess that this was a unit that was bought at a store return auction and then the person purchased a new one, put the beat up unit back in the box and returned it. Only if you looked closely could you tell it had been opened. someone cut the original tape nicely and re-taped it closed with the used unit in there. I knew I should have opened it at the store before I bought it.

It was returned to the store that I bought it from -- Downer's Grove,IL.

Got a really nice customer service rep (they exist!) on the phone who actually suggested it to me.

I was shocked.

Are there other Ridgid Generator Cords that are a penny right now?
I have picked up 2 of the Dual Circuit 702-034 cords so far.

I ask because almost every store I have been to have a bunch of very old and battered Ridgid Generator Cords. I will price check them the next time I am at a store, but thought I'd ask here first.

Saw yesterday where someone brought back a portable cement mixer and the thing was covered in concrete. HD took it back. I just shook my head.

I buy store returns at auction and the other day there was a pallet that had a turkey fryer on it -- it came with all the turkey flavor as it was just NASTY - grease everywhere. I just don't see how some of these things get accepted as a return. It was on a HD return pallet.

This is gonna be long but tags of stuff I hadn't seen posted yet or were at decent prices. Saw a lot of the same stuff that's already been posted. Picked up some of these items. Gonna wait on others to drop. Also picked up some of the epoxy shields. A lot of what I was seeing at the .03 level was Hampton bay lights. Indoor and out. Found the shed in a box at the $60 level an $30 level and two different places. The fusion shed was sold out at most places or the store still had 2 in stock and hadn't dropped to the $250 price. The Nest products were either already on clearance and OOS or hadn't gone on stock yet.

The SharkBite stuff is a penny now so if you see them buy them. I've sold 16 already have 7 left to sell, and I paid 3.10 for them.

Not a hot deal but I found this interesting and wanted to share. It looks like some Black Friday/Christmas special buys that didn't sell along with what are probably returns got shipped off to wholesalers and are now being auctioned at the link below.

http://auction.slibuy.com/details.cfm?ID=2510059

So the real question is which one of you is going to buy this :willy_nil

That is the place that also has auctions by the pallet. a LOT of this stuff is either missing parts and/or broken.

No wonder the Great Lakes area doesn't do penny deals, it all goes to Indiana!

I really like that the spreadsheet uses HD skus, rather than UPC

edit: just looked closer, and seems several of the items are not typical clearance items, but probably used/returned. They have several items that HD still sells at all their stores & online.

I have bought some Ridgid cordless stuff on ebay from them under the seller name Karens Barn. It was all like new and functioned fine. I think they cherrypick the good stuff from the pallet lots and ebay it

most of them are returns. I know few people who do it out in PA that buy them by the truck load. HD included but most of the stuff from HD can not be sold as new.

I also bought from Karens Barn on ebay and their company sent me an email with the link for this auction along with some others.

Almost all of the items are store returns. I would say very little are clearance items that went to a penny(i did see a pallet of christmas items last week). I looked at one of the truckloads in person last week. The Homelite products look to be complete garbage. You would not believe how many of their products are in this auction -- all burned up or something is broken.

Been lurking and searching for a while and finally scored a penny deal. There was one more that I'm going back for after work. I was so shocked when it rang up for a penny I just stood there like a ***** for a few seconds before shoving a $5 bill in quick. I also scored two of the pasload framers a month ago for $100 and sold one for $200 making mine free. It's all about the chase!!

Are you guys finding these epoxy kits with sale price stickers on them?

Found some with 17.03 sticker on them sitting in middle of aisle and once right by paint counter. At another store I found 10 in the rafters with the .06 sticker on them. So yes and no.

Has anyone noticed they changed the computers and it doesn't have the price check app anymore? I went in and went to the computer but now it takes me to a blank home depot pic and it only has internet explorer or homedeopt.com and no other apps? Is it just my store?

I believe you need to open the start menu and then choose the store pc option and it should show like normal with the IE and PCA.

Did they update the system and are they trying to hide the price check app from customers now? I know just last week it was normal and it was on the main menu!

Probably due to everyone calling customer service over penny deals and all the screen shots we take. :)
