Sorry!!

She told me I could use the "non-public" computer to look at the website but not use the price checker even though they are both labeled "public" on the computer.

Basically, as long as I wasn't trying to check clearance prices I was okay to use the computer.

speaking of that, I saw the Ryobi pancake with 3 nailers for something like $132.06 down in one of the stores around Boston. Don't know when it hit .06 status, but will be a nice buy once it hits .03.

Yup I got it at $138.06 and 10% off and I've never seen another one in stores. I keep checking in stores so I can try and get a price adjust. The Ryobi guns are quite good actually and cost a lot separately! I'm working on a project right now anyway so need these nailers!

Oh I meant the customer care part, if they said you should still be able to use it then they are saying your okay to use that app. But the store mod wouldn't let you use the app...?

Oh okay...Customer Care said that I should be able to price check but that an employee should do it for me. That it's probably a liability for me to use the computer in case I damage it.

So next time I just watch someone look everything up on my list for me?

That's when you just fill up your cart with as much **** as you can, take it all to the SCO and press the "price check" button. Do it with 10 carts full. They'll get the hint when a long line starts forming at SCO.

Haha this

Yea it seems like something you'd get with specific mods at specific stores from time to time. However, I doubt they can make you leave the store for using the public computer.

Next they'll say the SCO isn't for public use.

btw, lots of stores have "kiosks" set up with a store computer. Same computer used everywhere else in the store. Same apps. Nowhere on these kiosks does it say you can only use it for homedepot.com

Ive only seen 2 stores in my extended area that actually have the kiosk setup.

Most of them have the PCs tucked away in Appliances or Lighting, a couple have them at the customer service or Pro desks.

... He was persistent and when I refused his help for the third time, he walked away. Not 2 minutes later the MOD walked up and took the mouse out of my hand. ...

Don' wave a red flag around a bull. Just walk away and use another computer or come back another time. Now you are a marked man. No good comes from trying to assert your rights in Home Depot, you will only get banned from the store, and calling corporate will lead them to password protect the price check app. Its only a matter of time.

I've even seen a few at the faucets that say "look up other items here"

I guess the stores with customer computers with chairs and big ole signs must pay really high liability insurance premiums, huh? It's bad enough when in store employees spout off bs, but when customer care tosses around the same nonsensical ****, I have to take a deep breath and count to 10.

Ya my 2 local stores turned off the 2 public computers and then turned everyone of the ones facing us toward the employees. It started out with, "this is only for pro customers" then I would show them my procard. The week after they had them **** off and unplugged from wall. Been like that for couple months now. I just go to back of store and use computers where the employee break room is located. Sort of shocked that they still wouldn't let me use it when we spend over 15k/yr on the procard. Mod said he didn't care and that too many people are abusing the computers to get good deals. The mod said that they would be turned on as soon as home Depot updated their software (which they are currently working on). I hope he was just blowing smoke because if not I don't have the patience to shop without the computers.

Or take your loooooooong list in there, and have someone look up everything on it. This is what they said you could do, right?

I just got kicked off the computers myself about 15 minutes ago. Just a lot easier to either come back to the store or go use another computer. The funny thing is last week I used his computer for 20 minutes and nobody said anything. Just depends on who's at the store that day. But not worth arguing with them about it. There are so many stores that are cool about letting us use the computers. One store isn't going to make a difference.

A couple home depots in my area have the cutumer computers facing towards the employees so it is hard to use especially when they have there coats over it i guess to make sure no one uses it? The one in my city has it towards the customer so it is easy to use!

@Spn1025, for all the deals I see you score, shouldn't you be a "marked man" when you walk in the store? I figured hearing all these other stories with MOD giving them ****, that you'd have a few of your own stories...

lol so far i'm only a marked man at one store. If I have to **** on a manager I just give it a month or so then they completely forget about it.

I like the stores in Mass better than NH. NH stores all get ****-hurt about pennies. Mass stores just tell you to take the stuff free. Don't even have to call a manager over.

I hope you'll breakout out of one the better stories of you having to "**** on a manager" at some point in the future.

eh nothing special.. Portland Maine when I got 2 Echo timberwolf chainsaws, corporate actually emailed the policy to the manager, then the manager came back apologizing to me.
It's just a matter of setting some tough-guy arrogant managers straight. They all think they're above corporate. I've met plenty of nice managers along my travels though.

Maybe it's bc I kill them with kindness or do my penny shopping under the radar but I've never had an issue using a computer, in fact the only issue I ever had was a jackass at the prodesk said we can't sale penny items, in which I replied "I understand that, but what about displays" once I mentioned that I was looking for power tools his attitude changed lol

Thanks

Just curious on a deal like this, if my store is at full price I assume it has to go thru the "entire" markdown schedule before it gets to the sweet price?

those cords are heavy duty though, as long as there isnt bare wire its worth $10, let alone a cent

Just visited my 7th store in the area and have yet to find a single thing. Not only have I not found a penny item, I haven't found any of the deeply discounted things like the set of Milwaukee Bits, the pancake, nothing.

Guess I will just watch like I did in High School Football

Either not looking hard enough, someone else has beaten you to the party or your area is just on their game. Usually, it's late to the party. It's not easy to find this stuff, generally, timing is everything depending on your area.

Anyone know the turnaround time on a email sent to corporate via the HD.com website?

Does anyone have a direct email address to send a message to corporate at?

two vague questions, one deal:
does anyone know the original sale price of the husky rolling bag with the bonus bag inside? i believe it was a black friday deal.. not sure of the sku. they are like $15.02 right now..

2nd question and the deal i have not seen posted:
there is another ridgid generator cord that has another wire for a control panel of some sort... its marked down to $9ish in my local. http://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-25-ft-Generator-Extension-Cord-RDEC25/100676306

but the question is does anyone know if that cord can only be used for a ridgid generator or is somethin like that a universal plug on there in that it can be used on other brands generators/control panels?

The store near my work sold the display husky trackwall ALL OF IT cabinets, hooks, bench, for $20 to some landscaper that was hellbent on it while they had plenty of if on clearance. I "encouraged" a trackwall box to move to the next shelf over. Still plenty visible. REGIS came through last week and it was still there today. Manager was not happy with REGIS when I made him let me leave with the 6 track pieces for a penny each.

Just went to the local store by my work. Nothing deeply discounted there either and the stuff that was marked down ended in .00 so not much of a markdown.

Same local store had no husky trackwall items, which is mainly what I was looking for...Hell they didnt even have any gladiator or other wall mounting products!

I recently showed my Father how to use the app at Home Depot here in Atlanta during a holiday visit. Being from southern MS, he checked a few HD's in MS and they went nuts. They kept asking if he worked for HD Corporate, he simply responded "if you keep interrupting me while I check inventory, I will gladly make a report to regional". lol, they freaked and left.
