Those Milwaukee cases are awesome!!! Would love to score some of them, but haven't seen not even 1 in this area(Chicago). Here's a pic of todays haul.. Really wasn't trying super hard because I knew i was under time constraints. But still did okay. The knives were still $2.52,but grabbed 15 of em anyway. They were freaking over with the vacumm cleaners!! If a store says they are there, then look EVERYWHERE if you really want the deal!! The vaccum was a penny. The sprayer and the steam mop were free. They wouldn't accept pennies for them at that store..She used a yellow highlighter to mark upc..whatever, I could wipe it off probably with a paper towel.

Mostly all the pliers(7 ish) were a penny too. The other pliers and tweezers rang a penny and girl working saw it on her computer and froze them. I talk with manager and I could tell he was ABSOLUTELY NOT going to sell them for a penny.Said okay lets check last price.Of course was $2.52. Had them call him and he agree ok let's split it. So got 14 or 15, for $1.26. I was okay with that. And tweezers I paid $.61 for because girl at register couldn't figure out half of $1.68.,last clearance price for those. All in all a good haul.

Penny items are cool, and I see why they are hunted, but today was mostly an accident. In most instances you can negotiate the last clearance price on penny items..At least my experience so far at two different stores.

That has to be a old tag as I don't think they will be holding them till November of this year for any reason. I saw these at the store on SW 152nd a week or so ago marked for $40. Went back 2 days later to buy a couple and they were nowhere to be found.

Master these are at the ochee store in Hialeah gardens way in the back by the plumbing and cabinet area.

Id like them try that **** in States that have laws around prices like Mass has scanners for this and could fine the depot for not selling it to me for a penny. I hear Cali has tons of state laws on this **** too

Colorado has similar laws.

Here they can get fined if:
a) it rings up higher than the price on shelf or the advertised price
b) they sell you something for more than lowest price of the 3 (register, shelf, advertised)

Do not touch. That's easy to get around. It's only on one box. I took a whole bucked of ridgid drill bits that still had a note that said save for Jane. Jane wasn't there and she missed out.

Poor Jane, one of the penny milwaukee boxes I got had something like N.S.S.U.O in sharpie above the barcode. Other boxes I couldn't reach had the barcode scribbled out. After I paid she tried to tell me it means No Sale Store Use Only, like I'm supposed to know that haha if the barcode scans I buy!

At the store store where I actually got two of the Milwaukee 13" Jobsite Work Boxes for a penny, they had others hiding under a table in front of the pro desk. On top of the table was one more, with a sign offering a box for free with each commercial credit application. I wanted to just grab one when nobody was looking in that direction and take it to SCO, but I'm still a rookie and lack the chutzpah.

thanks...now on with the hunt...

I stopped by a store to make sure "my" Husky compressors were still tucked away in the overhead (yes :pimpflash) and stumbled upon 1 of the jobsite boxes. It was easily in reach so I had to take it. I'm sure I'll find something to do with it.

Found a clearance section hidden away in one of the corners that I hit up earlier this week filled with Malibu Lighting of all different types and sizes. The majority of the Malibu stuff I've been finding has been open and I've had to fish around for everything that's supposed to go in the box, but almost all of this stuff looked unopened.

Debated whether or not I should make a few trips to get everything, but in the end said screw it and filled up the basket with everything I could find that looked unopened.

Got about 2/3 of my basket scanned before I got shut down. The girl manning the SCO didn't know what was going on and called over one of the lead cashiers who said she'd sell them at last clearance price. I informed her that it was HD corporate policy that if its on the sales floor and it rings up a penny and then asked for the manager.

While standing around waiting for the manager to show up, the girl asked if I was building a dog house. I didn't know wth she was talking about until she pointed to the drawing I made in my clipboard (there's a pic of it attached to my first post a few pages back). This instantly made me feel extremely ridiculous. A short while later the manager called back and said that he could only do last clearance.

Getting questioned about the plans I had in my fake contractors clipboard really took the fight out of me and I didn't feel like trying to argue anymore, so I informed the girl that I was going out to my truck to call corporate. Unfortunately, they were already closed. I headed back in to ask if they could hold my basket until there was a resolution tomorrow and she said that they could only do that if I bought the items.

I'm somewhat pessimistic after seeing two posts both saying that corporate changed their policy on penny items this Tuesday. But, doesn't it seem unlikely that HD would issue a country wide memo banning the sale of items that ring up a penny since that would be violating the scanning laws of several states?

Can anyone provide a direct link to any state law that specifically states that an item has to be sold at the price it rings up as? If they give me the line about selling at last clearance price I'd like to be able to question the legality of such a policy in order to suss out whether or not its BS, but would first like some hard evidence.

Can't help with the state law but they should of held the cart for you. You can still call if it bothers you, explain the situation, be slightly humble lol. Depending on who's on the other end of the line they may help or they may not, it's a crapshoot. I still like the idea of a dog's face, joke would have been on her.

The person that mentioned the policy change is in california. There are strict price and scanner laws in the state. It is illegal to increase the price on an item at checkout. It is punishable by a fine and jail time. I will try to find the info and post it here. It is part of the buisness and professions code. So it is interesting to me that they told him they could only do last clearance price, however HD customer care is based in Georgia i believe so i wonder if there are different laws there or if they really think that they can enforce a policy that is breaking the law.

^ ^ You have NOT told us any location or STATE where this happened ???

I'm in Texas, but I was asking for a reference to any state that has a law that would prohibit HD from selling an item for a price greater than what it rang up as. As long as there is at least one state where this is illegal, HD would have just adopted a company wide policy that was not legal in all of its locations.

If they they tell me that this is HD's new corporate policy I plan on asking how HD could implement a policy that is not legal in all of its locations. If this indeed the new corporate policy, who ever I talk with should be able to explain to me how this not illegal or transfer me to someone who can. I'm only doing this to make sure that whoever I talk with is not just giving me some line of BS.

I'm probably way overthinking this whole thing, but I would really like a definite answer. I plan on asking whoever I talk with to email me a summary of our discussion for my records and will post a copy of it on here.

WOW! I can't believe how far this penny deals **** has escalated to the point of entitlement and state laws. Next thing you know somebody is going to want to take it to the Supreme court. I'm waiting for the idiot to climb a yellow ladder, fall down and sue HD. Penny deals will be over. You guys are really pressing your luck.

Let's see. Penny deals have been going on for almost 10 yrs I believe? There are laws on the books for scanner and pricing accuracy. Hme depot has known about this issue, if they cared. Their IT dept. could probably have it changed in 30 days or less. State law trumps whatever corporate policy is in place.

I don't think it's going to go away anytime soon

cashier I dealt with the other day Has been selling penny items for 17 years,
she has been told if a customer brings it to a register they get it for .01, and she clarified "sales floor" basically if the shelf has a price sticker on it thats considered sales floor, doesnt have to be a price sticker for the exact item. The very top shelf behind the nets is not considered sales floor, thats over flow they can sell stuff from there but not penny items. She said if a employee has to get it down you cant have it for a penny

Picked up a Husky 30gal twin cylinder cast iron compressor last night, 330.06. It had been hovering at 369.9X since January. I was in need of a smaller compressor and didn't feel like tempting fate any more than I had.

This is exactly the way it should be everywhere.

Penny deals are cool, and I had crazy fun yesterday.but at last store when stopped I simply negotiated the last clearance price to half. I have done this a few times and always was happily done. If they let it go,cool!!! If not, cool too. Even I just don't get the arguing and calling corporate on penny deals. Just ask for half of the last clearance price, usually will get it from my personal experience, and you still got a killer deal!!!!!

I just got here and I'm not calling anyone out,to each his own, but some of the penny talk does come across as entitlement big time. Last clearance price is still 75% off!!!!!!
