That PC setup is awesome!

I have a favor to ask, I scored a Haysfield faucet a couple months ago on the second clearance tag. Today I was wondering around and saw another Haysfield up in the second tier of shelving. I tried to access a computer but all were taken so I waited, and waited and they didn't free up. I did however get the sku that was on the side of the box can anybody confirm if this faucet pennied out yet?

Also, for those you in the San Antonio who visit the Cambray store and want to use the computer. They have a guard dog chained up near the computer in the lighting section. He looks to be in his 70's with white hair and glasses.

He busted me twice today and told me only associates were allowed to use the computers. Didn't really feel like escalating the situation so I just apologized and continued shopping around.

The second time he crept up behind me without me noticing and startled the **** out of me by saying, "What I don't understand is how you are continuing to gain access to this machine!", like they had some NSA type security measures in place. Not really knowing how to respond, I just said "All you have to do is move the mouse and the screen saver goes away."

Utter nonsense. If it wasn't supposed to be for customer use it would be locked. Like the cash register functions on them are. Corporate policy s clearly to allow customers to use the inventory system. This is local mangement or employees trying to scam the system (selll the deals on craigslist etc) or avoid getting in trouble because their inventory control is so ****.

The store I went to by work today has ALL the computers at the pro desk facing outwards. I think there are 5-6 of them, always one open and they dont care that I use them at all!

Noob here, still trying to score my first penny... came across the main forum looking for inspiration/advice on my basement renovation project, where i am in way over my head already. Stumbled down to this section looking for Hot Deals and came across this amazing thread.

After lurking for a while, i have been to my local HD 3 times, and struck out on pennies each time. The first night I went, I used the outward facing computer at the pro desk and had no trouble. I went back two days later and all of the computers were facing in to the employee side. I've been able to jump on the Windows/Door dept PC without any hassle.

Anybody see the pro desk computers switch back and forth? not sure if there was a store mandate to make the move or what.

I feel like it depends on the time of day. I have seen them facing each way and it varies from store to store.

Don't worry about getting pennies at first, focus on getting some good deals first and then you will start to find the pennies. Look in every corner/shelf for hidden and forgotten gems.

There is definitely some shady stuff going on at certain stores regarding employees/managers saving penny items for themselves or friends.

Last year I posted this picture I took of a guy with a cart full of penny items that was saved for him in the employee area. And he strolled through self checkout, scanning tons of penny items, no questions asked.

Then I tried to ask him some questions outside but he pretended he didn't speak English.

I went to my local store today and found at least 10 more of the husky tire gauges in the clearance isle for $5.81. So i thought i scored because this is the same store i scored these for a penny but when i price checked these they rang up at $5.81? What gives can they now adjust penny item prices?

There's two different versions of that tire gauge. They look exactly the same, but only one has pennied out at my store. Check the SKU

It happened to me when I was buying a bunch of the penny ones. A higher priced one was mixed in my batch and I accidently scanned it. See the receipt

I think everybody knows on here I have been looking for these for sometime now. I can't seem to track down the penny one though, I have found 3 different types of the gauge all at the $5.81 price and even $8+ at some locations. I thought I scored the other day when I found one in a smaller different package all dusty, nope.

Also, have anybody see the "expand it" its for trimmer heads i think by Ryobi in a older black/white box? I know they are normally in a black/neon green box but this cultivator looked extra old and the box looked a couple years old at least.

Yep. Saw them on the shelf for the $5.81 and mixed in with it was the older ones from Black Friday, those scanned in at 9.something.

Are the gauges any good?

Last week when I was at a store I came upon a basket filled with stuff an employee had taken off the shelf. I immediately recognized the Milwaukee 2 pc ratcheting screwdriver set and the husky mini pick set. He was up on a ladder a few feet away so I decided to liberate them. Before heading to the SCO I decided to take a pick of the cart to investigate in the car for more penny items, but ended up deciding not to go back in.

Looked at the pic a few days later and saw that it had a bunch of these:

Went back two days later and found the same guy and asked if he knew where he put them. Said they hadn't had those in months. Showed him the picture of his basket (the same boots he had on are clearly visible in the background). He then took me to one of the clearance end caps and said if they had them, they'd be here. Spent a while looking for them but no dice. Im sure he probably has them all stashed away in one of those penny sterilite tubs waiting on them to penny out. At least I got his Milwaukee screwdrivers...

Anyone have any luck getting items out of the boxes that say hold for event Black Friday? I have a feeling that's where a lot of the small tools that pennied out recently are that could not find in the overhead.

Will the Barcode on a full display ring up the correct number inside? Don't know why I haven't tried this yet.

Anyone here live in the heart of the beast?!? I.E. Anyone hit hotlanta stores? Have some friends that just moved there offering a couch and storage of any big items I may find. Thinking of making a weekend of it and see how good the stores are in the corporate center.

Last time I found a display the SKU on the outside of the box did not scan correctly. Brought up the "SEE ATTENDANT" screen. Had to open the display and scan each item individually - scanned 13 each of the CE Electrical Testing Kits (one had a meter and two pliers, the other had three pliers). SCO Attendant did not believe each of the items were ringing up a penny each, but didn't put up a fight as I scanned and bagged.

As to the comment by HDR, about shady things going on at some stores. I guarantee it. Was looking for the milwaukee fastback 2 packs, and store was showing 13 in stock. Looked and looked, finally asked a employee. He laughed and said your not gonna find any of those around. Asked about another item and he laughed. A word here and there and it broke down that hey I stashed that behind the customer svc desk. You see, when stuff drops we gotta wait 24 hours before we can buy them. So I stash them out until they drop.

Yup, that's great....HAHAHA

That would be grounds for immediate termination, and rightfully so.

Was at my store today about the first time in a month. All the customer use computers are gone. Not even one at the pro desk.

There are tons of stores in the area. I don't think there are many penny deals to be had around here though. I try to buy at last clearance because they disappear quickly at that price.

Had an okay day today:

e2b067170050fc9978c6a6bd051123d0.jpg

All pennies:

Total Pond Aerator
SKU: 443144

Dirt Devil Versa Steam
SKU: 1001-389-630

Bosch GLM 15
UPC:000346461244

Found the Total Pond Aerator at a penny at a few stores but could only find one. Other stores in the San Antonio area that are in a different district they are still 38.03. After getting through the SCO w/out any problems decided to head back in and saw a bunch of vacuums w/out packaging sitting right by one of the desks in appliances. Saw the purple dirt devil box sitting right beside them with display written on the top and headed back to the SCO with it.

Found the GLM 15's at the store that has the lost Ridged lights that I previously mentioned. They were hanging on hooks near one of the clearance sections with no price tag anywhere in sight. Scanned the UPC with the HD pro app and it showed out of stock at all local stores. Grabbed all three and headed to the SCO to check the price, dropped in a nickel and bailed.

Nice! I searched my local stores for one of those GLM 15 measures. They all disappeared at final clearance price.
