First penny today. Klein knockout set. Had to use the yellow platform ladder to retrieve it. Then I get to the checkout and realize it has been so long since I have paid cash for anything at HD that I don't even know where to put the dollar...so I use the eternally processing chip card. No issue though.

I'm extremely jealous of you with penny friendly stores...
My story for the day.
Found 4 chainsaws for a penny. Took chainsaw to SCO with a few other items. I didn't plan ahead and had no change so I had to use my credit card. As soon as the computer said "Payment Approved" the cashier walks over and starts talking to me. I sign real quick and get the receipt printed out.
She informs me that they cannot sell the item to me since it's a penny. I said okay and told her it was paid for already. She then tried to steal my receipt! I politely informed her that it was my receipt and that she could not have it. She then stated that she would have to get a manager. I could have walked out at this point but I wanted the other 3 chainsaws so I stayed.
Assistant Manager walks over and tells me the same thing. I inform her that the chainsaw had already been purchased and it was now my property. I asked about the remaining chainsaws and she said they could be purchased at the last clearance price. I said okay that sounds great.
She walks back over and tries to take the chainsaw out of my cart and tells me that they refunded me and I would have to pay the last clearance price for it as well. I informed her that it wasn't going anywhere and that it was mine. I eventually had to tell her that she was committing a crime by trying to take my property and that got her to stop.
In the end she got all pissy and told me she wasn't going to give me any of the other ones. I could have ended up with all of them for the $28 price but I decided to stand my ground on the penny.
I called corporate after leaving and actually got a very nice rep for once. She informed me that their policy was now to sell items for last clearance price and not for a penny (Who knows??). She got up with the manager and I just got an email back with the response. Manager claims that they would sale the remaining to me if they were on the sales floor but he said that they are not.............

I'd rather not get trepassed from the store but I was almost to the point of grabbing the others, throwing a $1 down and walking out. Next time I am just going to get the items, take them up to the cash register and immediately request a manager and ask for last clearance price.
That would be theft...it's one thing to walk out of the store if you have a receipt, but you can't just leave the money and run.
Btw, I have done that on occasion. Walked out with penny items and receipt in hand. One time I bought 4 penny Schlage locks, got my receipt, and then the cashier noticed. She told me to wait for a manager. I politely waited for a few minutes, then got tired of waiting and walked out. The cashier picked up the phone and screamed "He's stealing locks!!" She then followed me outside of the store, lol

I'd be ticked. If your name was on them and they were wrapped for you, they are yours. If someone didn't pick them up for a week or two maybe I can see the store selling them but only after they contacted you and said they need to be picked up now.
The even funnier part is that when I had gotten to the store 30-40 min earlier, there were two cops cars out front. No idea why they were there, but I'm sure glad they were gone by the time I had left!
Even though I hadn't broken the law, I'd rather not spend the next hour explaining the situation to the police.

No law dictating how you have to pay for your merchandise. It would be a civil matter and the store can choose to trespass you if they want. I don't advocate doing this as it would make a big scene for no reason and it would be dumb to get trespassed.

Hell yeah!! They were mine. I didn't even know it was possible to do will call without paying first. But I always do to make sure this **** doesn't happen.
After talking with corporate(first time ever), they called store because even they were outdone this happened.She got back on horn and told me they were trying to locate me some more..Which I know won't happen. and that if not they sell Honda's now that would be used as a replacement...If I get honda's, this will have most definitely been worth it!!!!! Higher resale than Ridgid! I told her the truth that this is like a 60 mile trip for me one way into city, so I wasn't happy about coming back, and she made sure to tell me that I was going to be EXTREMELY happy tomorrow. We'll see.
Will know tomorrow afternoon what the deal is to make it right. Rep at corporate was extremely helpful.
Hope it all works out for you! HD did somethign similar to me and all I got was the shaft....
not me, I've been striking out though, local stores show stuff on hand but damn they have gotten good at hiding stuff. missed out on the pressure washers that 3 stores show on hand but some how can't find them.

Hope they don't find them. Honda would be a huge win. I'd gladly trade you a Ridgid for a Honda because i would definitely keep it.
they caved pretty easily when they did something like that to me on the shed deals when there was no inventory left after I paid for it and left it as will call.. pretty much got a free shed out of it and all I wanted was the two walls they killed with the fork lift.

Had 3 52 inch boxes hanging there. Someone pulled them this week before I got there. I don't like calling to hold stuff. But in this case it would have been a good idea I guess. I tried to talk them into throwing me the Milwaukee box at the same price but that obviously didn't get anywhere haha figured it was worth a Hail Mary.

I looked for the knock out kit today with no luck.
On a side note has anybody had any luck with asking the manager to mark down clearance more to get it out of there hair? I am looking at a Dewalt battery that has been marked down for 4 months for $100. Heck give it to me for $60 and have it out of your hair!!!!

That was my exact plan. If I score a Honda, the 6800 watt Ridgid in my garage would be for sale immediately!!

I previously got two of this 5 weeks ago and posted it here with store location for those that wanted some since I left some 2 behind. Glad nobody is in this area cause today I went to that same store and they were still there.
I don't have the room for that stuff and really don't need another tool box so I passed on many when they first dropped, not much left now, I'm going to hit up two stores tomorrow see if I can't snag a pressure washer since my brother needs one for the boat. I'll check if the one still has the husky 52 they had stashed away from the tool isle in the rafters.
For the guys selling on offerup, man that's 10 times worse then craigslist here, less then half price offers, never reply when you accept or want you to drive an hour to deliver it. No thanks. Being near Camden ***** lol.

I've been looking for the 52" tool boxes to own and have found stores with 2-6 according to computer but have not seen them. But I've had luck with the 27" bottom and top.
OfferUp has been awesome for me. Craigslist is dead in my area.

Looks like all the idiots calling in every day bitching about not being able to buy a penny 2.00 screwdriver got everything screwed up. Back to last clearance price only if you call to complain about a penny purchase. Thanks.

klein knockouts dropped to a penny, new cashier at SCO, tested first with a turkey jerkey, single bag took it real slow to make sure she noticed, she didnt say a word, bought one klein set no issue she even asked if there was more, i came back through 5 minutes later with a second one
