Where the hell do you live?

$30 is $30 damn right swoyer, that's a case of beer, half tank of gas, water bill... list goes on.. Go ahead and leave it on the shelf, I'll be behind you to buy it.

I think he's in Cali. Cali is a very expensive state to live, between taxes, sales tax, real estate, highest gas tax, etc.

You're going to home depot anyways, why not get $30 out of it. A quick list on the local forum/app/craigslist and you have your money. Maybe I am doing something differently but selling this stuff isn't hard to do.

I see your point, i'd rather double my money also. But if you can score a couple of the same item to add up the profit and you know it's an easy flip, why not.

I had one going to southern Cali, took a vacation in Hawaii for a while.

Sorry, $115.

I was going to say.. I missed the boat on that one.

I think I bit off more than I can chew...got carried away and bought about 2K in nailers! I'm going to have to clean out the garage. :)

Regarding the Dewalt 18v nailers, I'm concerned about the batteries too. I think I'm going to open them up and charge them first. It seems like everyone is concerned about keeping everything sealed, but I'd rather know for sure what's in the case if I was buying.

At home depot parking lot looking for work.
30 dollars profit for running around, meeting, selling, listing, time invested, answering all the flakes,, comes our to below minimum.
It's not a flip $$ if Yu can't double it..

This.

Surprised more people dont take the time to figure out just how much we're REALLY making.

Im in the same boat....I have people saying no over 10.00, and thats after I drop a lot more off asking than they come up from an initial offer.

Im not really sure they expected me to turn it down after the whole "I cant come up with the extra money", so maybe they at least got a little irked.

And lets not go there with the people that try to knock 5.00 off while Im standing there with the item, then whip out a wad that could buy 10 of the item.

Im not saying its never worth it, just saying that my goal is always to double my money so I feel like I got my time's worth.

These are all decisions you should be making before you plan on flipping it. If they don't want to make any money that's their problem. Let them burn themselves out.

If your doing it right, you never get anywhere near minimum wage.

I'm not in it to make a living anyways...more so to assist in fueling my tool hoarding habits!

I see a local guys ads trying to make a "killing" on some of these items, that's also why a ton of his stuff is still there after 2 months or more.

what did you get for them? i found 1 and it seems like a worthwhile local flip, but not sure.

I sold them to the pawn shop I work at for $180 a piece. Not a bad margin and I don't have to deal with CL idiots.

Also I went to the Merrimack,NH HD. Nailers were wiped out but found the 3 tripod LED work lights and the 3 way extension cord.

Has anyone return a penny/clearance item without a receipt to find out they are refunding you the original full price?

Also how many times can you returns items at HD before HD catches on and puts a stop to your returning items? I guess I'm asking do they track your name and # times you returned an item?

Wow.. Calm down calm down. Thanks for the fair warning. I only ask the question because I unknownly returned something that I bought on clearance and they refunded me the original price with store credit. It wasn't much, but I was just shocked because I wasn't expecting the full amount, it just rang up that way.

Yea this story doesn't add up. How do you "unknowingly" return an item w/out receipt? And you weren't expecting the "full amount" but were expecting more than what you paid correct? I bought a total pos penny boot tray it's already tearing at the edges, and I wouldn't waste 1/2 gallon of gas and time to get a penny back, just sayin bruh. :wtf:

He's had 6 posts in 10 years. Probably won't hear again for a while.

So not posting 2000 times means something? I'm a grown man and a fireman...so I'm around smartass's every third day. I don't get **** hurt

Sorry, just was asking a question. I searched AND looked at the first posts to try to find an answer.

Thanks anyway

Well, he doesn't want to return a penny item and get his penny back. He wants to get penny turkey fryer then return it for at minimum the last clearance price or even better the original retail price.

It's stuff like that, that will screw all of us in the long run and anyone who shops at these stores.

You didn't look much then because it's not very difficult to decipher the terms people use here.

So I legitimately unintended to return rebuy the faucets I got at .03 level. Mainly because I got some after they pennied out. I had enough anyways these weren't gonna matter. Had receipt. He scanned the upc and it showed a penny. Got confused, hit something. Then it showed my correct .03 price (all within the 90 days it said on the receipt). So got refunded and checked the computers for nailers and what not. Then figured I'd go down the faucet aisle and what do you know. There's the 3 I returned sitting in a cart. They were gonna put them back out. 2 employees were right next to the cart helping someone and the other picked up the hand held and was about to scan one of them then something happened and they left it unattended. Figured I'd save them the trouble of figuring out what to do.

I mean. That's just something else.

HD knows about that tactic used by people committing fraud. When I get penny items, they usually cut out the upc or marked it, write note on it as given to customer free. And I like getting penny deals, but I don't cross the line.

He'll, if people do that, what's next, probably HD gun point robbery. No difference.

Really? You're asking for it.

Was your return a credit card purchase? That's easy to track and see who you are if they wanna look at cameras.

I have a AS shower I got the other day for a penny, don't need it but it was a penny so whatever. I wouldn't even think about going to another store and trying to return it and get a much larger store credit. The penny's I've gotten I got through SC or at a register and they said take them. Nothing has ever been marked, sku taken, etc.

People look a gift horse in the mouth. Take your penny deal, be happy with that deal. Don't try to do stupid stuff that will get HD to set up a system to end the penny because if people are screwing them out of money on pennies, they will set up a way to end it.

I returned it within the return window. Didn't care what happened to it. They put it back on the sales floor and I bought it. I'm not going to do their job for them. It's not like I waited and went back behind the return counter to pull it out again.

It should have showed it was a penny and taken to the back. I actually helped them out in a round about way. They just refused to take the help.

I usually don't return clearance that often anyways. And certainly not penny items. Not worth it pulling out of the driveway.

I just thought it was a pretty humorous story given all the return conversation. I will give them credit though they did check to see if it all was there.

That's weird. Possibly switching to something else? Looks like something else to keep tabs on. You can never have too many balls!

My home store has their trailer lights, etc. on clearance but first level so maybe a dollar off. One ball, I think it's well over a 2" ball and one locking hitch pin but that's it and the discounts are minimal.

If that wasn't your intention and it's hard to see it could have been since you assumed (rightly) it would never go back on the shelves, then I have no issue with what you did. If you didn't buy it, someone else would have so the store is in the same position.

My attitude is I don't get paid by stores, they don't discount my purchase, so I don't help them out if they screw up. If I buy a dozen widgets and they only count 10, it's the stores problem for hiring/training poor employees. It doesn't happen often but it does probably 1 time for every 8 times I get screwed over in some way by HD. I drive 30 minutes to a HD because they have a dozen widgets, get there, they don't have one. Order something online for pickup, end up waiting 30 minutes because they have 1 employee rather than 3 at the desk, etc.

So they cost me plenty so I don't feel badly if they screw up a count.

Would that be the guy in Matthews. Or the guy in south Charlotte? And how do you know his stuff is still there? Maybe the ads are up just to generate offers and he steers them to other things?

And then bottom line. You undercut him you all your stuff first. But he will make double just waiting....so who is the dummy?
