What'd you find?
When i found some lights and was denied I was told certain things get donated and others get sent to the compactor, lights however get hazmated for whatever reason. There are very view things that get sent back to the manufacturer if anything at all. Many stores have told me that they dont donate anything and everything gets compacted. Simple reason behind it, too many items returned with without receipt.I got denied getting those GE link bulbs from the overhead. Employee scanned them, called over manager, manager said they have to go back to manufacturer and they can't sell them. 5 minutes later, got another employee to get them down.

I asked the same thing, the guy said that certain things cant be compacted like lights and other electronics depending on what they are made of otherwise they risk being fined. He said the manager would rather hazmay them than risk items getting returned. He said if it was him he would open them all and hand them out for free at the door.I am sure you are right about charity and returns, but do things really go to hazmat? I thought you had to pay to send stuff to hazmat, so wouldn't it be better to sell for a penny than pay for hazmat?

That return excuse they use is BS. If it's a penny in the system and you return without receipt, no store around me will take it back, they say it's too old and refuse or they'll give you a penny back.
You are wrong in your thinking on this one. Prices vary by store. So, even when things are a penny at one store, they may be several hundred and active at another. THAT is where the possibility of fraud and return without receipt comes in. It is certainly not BS.
I have bought penny 41 and 52 inch toolboxes that were around $500 at other locations and NEVER dropped at those other locations. The same recently with chainsaws.
Or the person may come in and say they bought it when it was higher, or want the web site price on the return, etc. They are not lying in this case. It can be a hassle for them. That is why some stores remove/block the UPC on penny items. Even when you resell, it may be to people who attempt fraudulent returns.

Also, no receipt, you need to show your license to return an item. HD as all retailers track the returns. They can very easily have the system alert to people returning items that are on deep clearance or penny status at nearby stores if that were really much of an issue.
Anyone having luck with the last round of 11% rebates? I never got email confirmation with the tracking numbers and when I do the "search without tracking number" on hdrebates.com, the 11 rebates show up but no tracking numbers are listed. Also they all say denied for the store not offering a rebate during that time period...
Trying to get a hold of them now to get the tracking numbers and get them "escalated to upper management" for approval...
Not sure who they have working for them but I think they are possibly some of the dumbest agents I have ever dealt with.
I never received any tracking numbers, but all of mine show up as processing
It really is that much of an issue. The REASON that no receipt returns are tracked so strictly is because it IS that much of an issue. And people are using relatives, homeless people, etc to get around the tracking. This is not just HD, it is industry wide, and the fraud is actually fairly sophisticated in many cases. There is more to it than just penny items at HD.
You realize that the majority of retail fraud is shrink and fraud done by employees, not customers or even shop lifters, right? No receipt returns are so low that the company knows it is taking a small hit for greater results from customer service. If HD thought it was a Loss, they would change their policy. Look at target, they ended the policy then started it again due to customer complaints. It really is that much of an issue. They weren't denied?
Lady on chat was able to approve all but 1 of mine which she escalated. Finally got someone who has a clue.
The return would not affect the store that has the penny item. Why do you think there are many different stories store tell people? Because they are bs'ing people because they don't want to sell the item.
I had a manager tell me he couldn't sell me the penny item at last clearance or another amount under a generic sku because it's a penny now and it would be illegal for him to sell if for a higher amount than what the system has it at. I said that was bull if I were in agreement with the price, then he shifted and said it would be unethical.
90% of the managers are full of ****.
I would just stop accepting returns without a receipt, period. No receipt, no proof you purchased it. And if you have a receipt that shows a penny, that's the most you'll get back.
New rebate form active for July [emoji106]
Hey.. Is there any smoking deals now... Seems not too much stuff out there, unless Yu want some random junk stuff.
