I'm probably too ugly, they got tired of seeing my face up close on those cameras at the SCO

How long do I have to claim rebates for past months. Slept on the rebates for HD previously but have a bunch from the past 60 days. Any chance of still getting use from them?

Best quote from that article:
"Home Depot investigators were perplexed and still not certain how the scam worked and how many people might be involved"

They didn't understand how a simple retail fraud scam worked? Give those guys a raise!
A jail sentence is one thing, but "Stay out of Home Depots for the rest of your life.."?

How to receive your The Home Depot Gift Card:
Offer only applies to in-store purchases with valid receipt.
Mail this form along with a copy of the original The Home Depot cash register receipt. Rebate request must be
postmarked no later than sixty (60) days after date of purchase

Do I need to have that month's specific rebate form or can I just use the current one?

That I don't know..I assume it would be best to have original. Someone here might have saved em. I'm going to start keeping them myself, but that doesn't do you any good right now..

The writer of the article explained how it worked very clearly and I'll take issue with the writer, it wasn't a complex scheme, it's pretty basic and not new.

I wonder if they stole any penny items and what HD claimed the value of them were. :D

This is the part I find odd, half the time their camers 'dont even work', but

Store officials were able to get a license plate on one of the vehicles and traced it to Ackerman’s house in Detroit. During the next several months, they did surveillance on Ackerman and followed him ....

One day they tailed him for more than an hour as he chatted with people on street corners and walking the sidewalks. ....

....Home Depot investigators were perplexed and still not certain how the scam worked and how many people might be involved. So they made no arrests that day....

...Soon, the investigators had a tracking device on Ackerman’s car and were monitoring him around the clock
Now they have a police force with undercover agents, tracking devices, and arrest powers?

I have blue... I wish I had invested in yellow though. with yellow you can get deals from both HD and Lowes. blue, red, and orange you're stuck to one store (hd or lowes), at least if you only buy stuff on smoking deals.

If you're a deal hunter and need to invest in a cordless set, I would go yellow.

And do not forget on the interweb.....[emoji106]

Two words: metal studs!

So much easier to frame up since basement is most likely not load bearing. And no need to worry about rotting, finding studs that arent U-shaped, etc.

Id buy the framing nailer anyway :) but would frame the basement with steel studs (I did my basement this way and it was easier than using wood)

Please be aware these are not only discontinued by DeWalt, they are problematic. There is a pair of seals in there that fail and are no longer available.

But the manufacturer gives them credit for "FULL VALUE" according to the guy who last took a penny item from me.

Guy told me this aswell sounds like a riot. Just ask **** why even put anything on clearence and take a loss. Drop it to a penny and ship it back. If you're getting retail the freight shouldn't be a big deal. That employee should call corporate and tell them they're stupid and he'll get a promotion for implementing this new policy. Everyone wins.

Is this on clearance in other stores?

Dunno, that's not the SKU that I have in my phone..
I have these:

Powermate 5000W 1000031410 $49
B&S 3500W 1000029644 $99
B&S 5000W 1000030328 $99

I found a B&S sku 1000030410 that I tipped off to another GJ member that ended up being full price (thought it was the Powermate SKU)

I just heard on NPR that Home Depot is going to be closing 300 stores nationwide. I cannot find a press release but it seems to stay tuned!

Ya our office Depot closed down about 4 months ago. They started off at 20% off sticker price (generally increased sticker price by 10-20% to make up for this). The weeks before final closing it got up to 50% off and I bought $300 wireless routers for less than $100. Was all kinds of office equipment for good deals as well.

I am well aware of how the scheme worked, and it's a common scheme. I'm laughing at the fact that HD investigators had no idea how it worked, per my quote from the article.

I've got a question about the Homelite chainsaws. They don't factory test the motors do they? I got a 14" for a penny a couple weeks ago. It had mice living in the box, and the thing looked like ****. Looked used and returned, but what do I care for a penny? Well, I finally cleaned it up today. That crappy look was almost all just dirt. What little damage there is to the body can easily be attributed to the 4-legged squatters. The blade is perfect. Oil and gas tanks are bone dry. Only problem is there is the very faint smell of gas in the tank. This is my first gas powered tool so, thought I'd ask those in the know. Could that smell be from factory testing, or is it from customer use?

On another note. I'd taken the thing to customer service while it was still still at .03 price. It had the remnant of a mouse nest in it and looked like it was definitely used and returned. I asked what they would take off for that, and they offered all of $2.50 off. I put it right back in the clearance section. The thing looked so bad, it was still there when I went back, even though they'd pennied out about a week prior. 😁
