I've got a question about the Homelite chainsaws. They don't factory test the motors do they? I got a 14" for a penny a couple weeks ago. It had mice living in the box, and the thing looked like ****. Looked used and returned, but what do I care for a penny? Well, I finally cleaned it up today. That crappy look was almost all just dirt. What little damage there is to the body can easily be attributed to the 4-legged squatters. The blade is perfect. Oil and gas tanks are bone dry. Only problem is there is the very faint smell of gas in the tank. This is my first gas powered tool so, thought I'd ask those in the know. Could that smell be from factory testing, or is it from customer use?

On another note. I'd taken the thing to customer service while it was still still at .03 price. It had the remnant of a mouse nest in it and looked like it was definitely used and returned. I asked what they would take off for that, and they offered all of $2.50 off. I put it right back in the clearance section. The thing looked so bad, it was still there when I went back, even though they'd pennied out about a week prior. [emoji16]

Sell it now and you can thank me later.

Has anyone come across a dump cart on clearance? There are 2 John Deere dump carts at my local store. Retail is $199 but these have been out in the weather for a while and show a few signs of rust.

Csmitty you're slacking at Buckhead

Haha, touche, Granted thats not on my normal route. Usually something to be found though. Got one of the 80gal compressors there. Lady thought it was a water heater. :dunno:

They are good with penny items though. Even caught they let me go with them. Even though I was accused of "jugging" their system.

I like how the lady put her lipstick in there but it's obvious from looking at the basket that if she leaned to the side it would slide right out the end.:lol_hitti

You know there's a guy somewhere in America, buying one to put snacks in. He figures it will work perfectly (along with his beer guzzler cap) for watching Nascar and WWE.

Exactly!!!! Get what you can out of it and go buy a stihl or husqvarna

Yeah. I know they ****, but it'll only ever have 1 job to do. I've got an overgrown holly tree out back that needs hacking. It should be able to handle that. Between the saw, replacement 16" bar and chain, and gas, I should be out less than $5. :rocker:

Let us know how it goes

Will do. Likely won't be till winter though. I've got to double check, but I recall that's the best time to get the whitest wood from the tree. I hope to get some good pieces out of the tree for turning. We'll see.

Thanks for the heads up.
Best option is the pre mixed fuel cans that they sell at the store. They are complete with the oil, fuel stabilizer, and storage additive. I belive they can sit on a shelf upwards of 2 years. Never try to use old fuel it is just a headache that is not worth the trouble. They are a little pricey but its worth it not having to deal with the hassle of doing it yourself.

Onwards and forwards, anyone seeing any Makita cordless circular saws for discount. Saw the brushless angle driver for 50% off but passed it up cause I have used my corded on 0 times and my previous one a single time. A circular saw though I use more than my table saw.

All my sealed one's smelled of gas, and had a small stain on the bar for the chain oiler, pretty sure they test it. I had a bunch of them, opened more then a few of them in front of buyers.

1-9/16??? that thing is a beast. I have a Dewalt, I think 1-1/8, bigger than i'll ever need... but damn, for a penny, that's a big *** rotary hammer. Started with a Dewalt 7/8 and never opened it, then got the 1-1/8" (haven't opened it yet either) so now i'm selling the 7/8.

First time sending in the 11% rebate form, had a few questions. Do you only need to photocopy the portion down to the barcode or the entire receipt? I have one receipt that seems to have faded pretty badly, you can see most of the line items and the barcode is faint but the total and barcode id is nearly gone, should I bother including them? How do you handle receipts for partial returns? just cross out those items?

Any tips for improving odds of them not rejecting the rebates?

I had a receipt for a carpet purchase+install and it was unfortunately just outside of the 60 day window, bummed on that one.

If you link your credit card on your HD.com account, it will pull up every purchase you made with it, and you can get those e-Receipts.

are e-receipts acceptable to send in? does it matter which form I send in? I'm planning on sending in about 40 receipts from the past 55 days or so.

found one in near me. It was the display, but when I scanned it "not found in system".

They wouldn't even sell it to me for last clearance price. I wasn't about to argue, my lunch break was over.

Are they good blowers for the $50

If it was display model, then you're scanning a SKU tag and not a UPC code, I would assume??

I am very pleased with it especially for a $50 blower. The thing I probably like the most is being able to adjust the speed to exactly what you want. Obviously a penny would have been better but I'm not complaining.

Mine was a display also and fortunately the box was overhead with the charger and paperwork. I carried it to customer service and asked if I could buy it rather than getting the box down myself and trying to put it back in the box. I figured just asking them would raise less questions. It had a clearance tag on the handle with normal sku that they used to ring it up. I would have posted a picture of the tag but they took it off while ringing it up.
