I used to have that same set up since i just started wrenching a couple years ago i thought it be a good way to see how i liked the industry without too much investment. The top box drawers all collapsed on themselves a month after buying the box, home depot employees are absolutely useless and tried to give me a small red hand carry box as a replacement saying that's the best they could do for me. After some harsh words and a few veins in my head exploding they gave me store credit for the box minus a 10% re-Stocking fee I was so fed up i just took it and left went to sears and bought a craftsman top box replacement. Unfortunately your probably going to have to bite the bullet and fix it yourself, drill through the spot weld marks and rivet it together and touch up the paint and unload the box.

If you have a Mig on hand try drilling the rear layer of metal and cleaning the back of the front in the location of the hole some. Hold a smooth wet rag against the front while hitting the hole with the Mig in short pulses. You can get a spot weld like tack without much if any paint damage. Yes it can work I have done a bunch on a stupidly planed project I was paid to make work.

That was my plan if I can't get anywhere with the warranty,I've done alot of body repairs over the years.Figured I only have to get it tacked once and it'll still be stronger than factory.

I actually kinda liked Home Depot until that douchebag Robert Nardelli took over as CEO. He fired all the buyers that selected all the name brand tools and replaced them all with bottom of the barrel Chinese stuff. The stores used to have autonomy to customize themselves to local markets, he removed that and a lot of other stuff and just killed employee morale. He also lost market share big time.

When he finally was railroaded out, stores closed early and employees threw parties. Of course when he left he took with him a $200 million golden parachute. The stores are slightly better than they were when he was in charge, but they still have a long way to recover.

This is so true. The new guy in charge (I forget his name) is really trying to improve the quality of service and hire people who actually know something about the products they sell and how they are used. It just takes years to alter the behavior of a hundred thousand disgruntled employees.

Caper,

I'm thinking you should empty out the box and hall it into Home Depot. Anyone with half a pea-brain should be able to tell that the spot welds came undone. You should stand your ground and make those bastards honor their warranty.

Hell yeah! Fight fight fight. If you let them walk on you they will just keep taking advantage of people. Just keep complaining up the chain until you get help.

So the saga continues, called the customer service number Billy linked too.Was transfered to another line,a really helpful woman named Gladys Williford in atlanta. She was a big improvement over everyone I've talked to yet.E-mailed her some pics of the box and she called Waterloo who claimed it was made after the stanley transition, even though I distinctly remember there being Waterloo paperwork in the box when I bought it.So she calls stanley, who say the box is discontinued and all they have are sliders. They suggest I go to my local HD and measure the drawers in the boxes they have in stock to see if any will fit.ROFLMAO-who comes up with this stuff? After spending another hour of my life on the phone I think thats about enough,It's just easier to weld the drawer myself and be done with it.While this lady was the most helpful so far in this fiasco,I can't see myself wasting my time and gas running around.I'll weld it up this weekend so I can put it for sale next week.
