Sorry to be a bit long winded here just thought more detail made the (true) story better..

So, Yesterday I am working on my compressor, adding an automatic drain valve
So I shut it off and drain the tank, now I already know the "T" fitting isn't going to fit under the compressor so I have a 1/4 elbow and enough 1/4 pipe to get out from under the compressor (its an upright) Its now that I figure out that I don't have enough height to get the elbow installed (why do they make those legs so short anyway?) OK, no big deal I only need about 1/4" more in height to get the elbow installed & I have some 3x1/4 stock in the shop & plenty of concrete anchor sticking out. All I have to do is make 3 slotted shims so I cut 3 pieces 3" long, layout the slots, fire up the plasma, pull the trigger...... What?? its not working.. It worked yesterday whats going on here?? :headscrat Look at the front panel the pressure light is on... Duh, man am stupid no air, no plasma... (Homer moment x1)

Ok no big deal I'll just drill a hole & make 2 cuts with a cut-off wheel, So I drill the holes and put the cut-off wheel in my die grinder and plug the die grinder into the AIR HOSE........................... (Homer moment x2)

I guess when you get used to something its easy to forget how much you use it!

Back in August of 03, we experienced the power outage that knocked out the northeastern portion of the US.

My wife had a consultant in town from her company. Although she was only a peon, she invited him over to make sure he had something to eat. We grilled out (hot dogs) and made chili on the stove (gas stove, thankfully).

As we are sitting outside, she asks us if she should reheat the chili for the dogs. I said "sure, I'll light the stove."

"Why, I'll just throw it in the microwave." I looked at the other guy and just smirked.

She went in, tried the microwave, and came outside. "Honey, the microwave isn't working".

"And neither is the A/C, TV, or anything else that requires power which is why we are sitting outside in the heat instead of inside of a cool house."

That reminds of a good story, a few years back I was visiting my parents & a major thunder storm rolled thru, Knocked out power for 2 days, anyway the first morning no power = no coffee (for my dad totally unacceptable) so he grabs the coffee pot full of water & the coffee & heads out to the shop.. My Mom says "honey where are you going" my Dad says "out to the shop" and walks off. My Mom say to me "has he lost it? there is no power out in the shop either.." I just smile.
About 20 sec. later you hear the portable welder start-up.... Hey what do you know we have coffee & about 1/2 hour later 4-5 neighbors around drinking coffee :lol_hitti

years ago we were rebuilding a single cylinder motorcycle crankshaft. The big-end was more than a little worn out. The book said we could press out the big end from the ends, so in the press it goes. Press does its press thing and ... nothing. Press wasn't big enough so we need more power. I guess that was a Tim moment. Only bigger press we had was BIGGER. Ram came down and started to push then started to really push. The big-end had a shoulder on it until we sheared that off with the press. We should have pushed from the other direction. doh.

I was trimming the hedges with an electric hedge trimmer while standing on a ladder and accidentally cut the cord while it was swinging about. I drove off to the hardware store and bought a new end and quickly installed it and plugged it in. The live male end was sitting out on the lawn when I realized my blunder. :scared: I hadn't even stopped to think that I needed a female end and not another male end. What an idiot!
