I had an old Taiwan version of the HF saw, and once I tuned it up, it worked like a champ. Many years later, I bought a HF saw, and never could get it to work right. I'm a tool maker, and have rebuilt saws, but there was just something off with that HF saw. I should have returned it right away.

I hate to say it but I use the HF 4 x 6 band saw allot. It's small, compact, cuts nice and was only 200$. And for small pieces I use the Hercules portable on the bench.
I had a small 4x6 and it died on me.

This is what I replaced it with, like mentioned above, a Wilton 3575 7x12. I bought it used for $118. OP, you can find something used if you can wait and keep looking.

I bought this G0614 Grizzly pivot head saw last year, it's been excellent

Selling my very nice Hitachi "dry cut" saw now, and didn't even shop Cold saws

I have the G0613 and have to say it's been spot on out of the box. Usually Grizzly stuff needs some tweeks, but this saw has been perfect. I would definitely recommend these saws.

I bought it for vertical cuts, though it needs a better table, but i find myself using it allot.

Get a Johnson.
800 lbs, quiet, cuts 10x18, set it and forget it.
And everyone likes a Big Johnson.

For me a bandsaw is better. Blades are less costly than a carbide blade for a cold saw. I don’t see any advantage of a cold saw for me, other than it has a smaller footprint. Also, a horizontal bandsaw can be set up to make cuts and shut off automatically. You don’t have to babysit it like a cold saw.

Go for the G0561. That gives you the vertical band saw when needed. No problems with mine for 18 years now.
