Hello All, hope everyone is staying safe. I built a 32 x 40 pole barn last year but had to get some hand surgery so never finished the inside yet. Was trying to come up with some ideas to insulate it myself to save some money. I don't want to spend the money for spray foam so looking at batts walls and a blown in ceiling. I saw this site for a place in Michigan about how they insulate their garages. I liked it because it looks like it would be easy to do myself.

They lay the batts horizontal and let its own weight keep the edges tight. I guess they just fasten it to the posts at the ends. Then they use 2 x 4 interior girts for the sheeting. Their picture shows metal sheeting but I thought of using osb for the first 4 feet then drywall after that. Maybe use 2 x 6 girts where I think I will install a wall cabinet or shelf. I'm no expert but think it is a good thing to have an air space on both the exterior and interior sides of the batts plus there is less contact of the posts to the interior sheeting to help reduce heat loss and noise. Just wonder if the batts might start to sag over time. Anyone do it this way before or see any problems?
Thanks
