Trying find a way to be able to remove a small shed so that I can perform maintenance on my air compressor it is 4x3x7'. The shed has a door but the way I have to build it around the compressor leaves me with very little room. If I ever have to pull the pump then the shed has to be removed. I was thinking of two ways to accomplish this: hinges and tipping it over or putting it on horizontal slides.

1) hinges are the cheapest but I have to build up an internal support structure
2) slides would be great as I can just unlatch it and slide it out of the way. problem-the shed weighs only 80 lbs. and 44" horizontal slides are about $400. That is a bit much for something that is going to be opened up maybe once a year if that. I was thinking of using vertical slides in the horizontal position but they get derated but I don't know by how much.

So here are my questions: does anyone know how much they get derated (I can lube the snot out of them to keep them from rusting) or does someone have another idea?

Assuming this is outdoors? Is it on a pad? Do you really need slides just to slide the 80lb shed forward? What's the plan to keep the slides clean/free of debris?

Pics of the shed would likely tell us a lot here.

Yes it will be outback next to the garage. I don't have the shed built yet-that is this weekend coming up. I have to raise the shed so that it will clear any piping from the pump to the tank. So I am going to put down the base sole plate, add some spacers and then another sole plate. This way there will be openings for air to pass through the base and out the top of the shed-sort of a convection system. The slides will be screwed to the shed base and the top sole board. They will be out of the rain. Here is the shed I got-except I got mine from TSC.

Does the shed bolt together? Assuming you don't have to do major work on the compressor very often, can the shed just be taken apart again? I'm thinking it may be something you don't have to worry about for years.

Drawer slides NUTTSGT. Sorry should have been more clear.
You said DRAWER slides but I thought you meant to slide the door. I misunderstood, you want to slide the shed.

I'm with Stuart on this one, I wouldn't worry about it. Unless you bought a used compressor, I wouldn't worry about it until the time comes.

Have you considered putting the compressor on a platform with lockable casters that would allow it to slide through the shed door instead? Just leave yourself some extra room with your cord and connection hose.

OK, yeah, the compressor is used but maybe if I have to remove it then I will just build a support platform and move it there temporarily if I have to work on it. Thank you all.
